Leah became pregnant and gave birth to a son. She named him Reuben, for she said,“ It is because the Lord has seen my misery. Surely my husband will love me now.”

Leah became pregnant. She had a son. She named him Reuben. She said,“ The Lord has seen me suffer. Surely my husband will love me now.”

And Leah conceived and bore a son, and she called his name Reuben, for she said,“ Because the Lord has looked upon my affliction; for now my husband will love me.”

So Leah became pregnant and gave birth to a son. She named him Reuben, for she said,“ The Lord has noticed my misery, and now my husband will love me.”

“ The Lord has done this for me,” she said.“ In these days he has shown his favor and taken away my disgrace among the people.” (niv)

At the place where they stopped for the night one of them opened his sack to get feed for his donkey, and he saw his silver in the mouth of his sack. (niv)

It may be that the Lord will look upon my misery and restore to me his covenant blessing instead of his curse today.” (niv)

“ Reuben, you are my firstborn, my might, the first sign of my strength, excelling in honor, excelling in power.Turbulent as the waters, you will no longer excel, for you went up onto your father’s bed, onto my couch and defiled it. (niv)

When Reuben returned to the cistern and saw that Joseph was not there, he tore his clothes. (niv)

While Israel was living in that region, Reuben went in and slept with his father’s concubine Bilhah, and Israel heard of it. Jacob had twelve sons: (niv)

And she made a vow, saying,“ Lord Almighty, if you will only look on your servant’s misery and remember me, and not forget your servant but give her a son, then I will give him to the Lord for all the days of his life, and no razor will ever be used on his head.” (niv)

Yet he took note of their distress when he heard their cry; (niv)

These are the names of the sons of Israel( Jacob and his descendants) who went to Egypt: Reuben the firstborn of Jacob.The sons of Reuben: Hanok, Pallu, Hezron and Karmi. (niv)

Reuben replied,“ Didn’t I tell you not to sin against the boy? But you wouldn’t listen! Now we must give an accounting for his blood.” (niv)
