亞伯蘭說：『主啊，我，我快要去世了還沒有兒子，你還賜給我甚麼呢？那麼承受我家業的、就將要是大馬色以利以謝了！』

善於督導的長老、尤其是在道上和教導上勞苦的人、應當被看為配受加倍敬奉的。

眾首領和勇士、連大衛的眾兒子都舉手起誓要效忠於所羅門王之下。

僕人就把手放在他主人亞伯拉罕的大腿下、根據這訓話向他起誓。那僕人從他主人的駱駝裏取了十匹駱駝，手裏帶主人的各樣美物；就起身往米所波大米去，到了拿鶴的城。

約瑟吩咐管家的說：『把糧食裝滿這些人的布袋，儘他們所能帶的；又把各人的銀子放在各人的布袋口；

約瑟不肯；他對他主人的妻子說：『看哪，在家裏、我主人甚麼也不知道，不跟我計較；他把他一切所有的、都交在我手裏。在這家裏、他並不比我大；他並沒有留下一樣而不交給我；只有留下了你，因為你是他的妻子。我怎能行這個大壞事、來犯罪得罪上帝呢？』
