大女兒對小女兒說：『我們父親老了；此地又沒有男人可以按着全地上的常規進來找我們。來，我們叫父親喝酒，然後和他同寢，好從父親存活後裔。』於是那一天夜裏、她們叫父親喝酒，大女兒就進去、和她父親同寢；她就寢、她起來，她父親都不知道。第二天、大女兒對小女兒說：『昨夜我跟父親同寢，今天夜裏、我們也要叫他喝酒；你要進去、跟他同寢，我們好從父親存活後裔。』那一天夜裏、她們也叫父親喝酒；小女兒就起來，和她父親同寢；她就寢、她起來，她父親都不知道。這樣，羅得的兩個女兒就都從她們父親而懷了孕。大女兒生個兒子，給他起名叫摩押，就是今日摩押人的始祖。小女兒也生個兒子，她給他起名叫便亞米，就是今日亞捫人的始祖。

荊棘對樹木說：「你們若忠誠地膏立了我作王來統治你們，那麼你們就要來、投靠於我的蔭影下；不然，就願火從荊棘裏發出、來燒滅利巴嫩的香柏樹。」

豈不是把你的食物分給饑餓的人，將流浪的貧困人帶到你家中，見赤身裸體的、給他衣服遮身，而不躲藏避開你骨肉之親麼？

難道要說：「讓我們作惡，使善來到」麼？（這是我們所受的毁謗；有人說我們曾說了這話）：這樣辯論的人之受定罪、是該當的。

如便對他父親說：『我若不帶他回來給你，你可以把我的兩個兒子處死；只管把他交在我手裏吧，我一定帶他回來給你的。』

我再拿點餅來，你們喫喫點心，然後往前走；因為你們既從僕人這裏經過，我理當招待。』他們說：『就照你所說的作吧。』

亞倫說：『求我主不要生氣；你認識這人民，知道他們是一味作壞事的。

他不曉得該說甚麼；因為他們非常懼怕。
