Then Abraham came up to him. He said,“ Will you sweep away godly people along with those who are evil?

亞伯拉罕走近前去，說：『你真地要將義人同惡人一齊掃滅麼？

進曰、善者惡者、爾豈並滅之乎、

即之曰、為善為惡者、豈可槩滅之乎。

亞伯拉罕就之曰、善者惡者、主並滅之乎、

Then Abraham approached him and said:“ Will you sweep away the righteous with the wicked?

Then Abraham drew near and said,“ Will you indeed sweep away the righteous with the wicked?

Abraham approached him and said,“ Will you sweep away both the righteous and the wicked?

Abraham stepped forward and said,“ Will you really sweep away the righteous with the wicked?

Abraham approached and said,“ Will You indeed sweep away the righteous with the wicked?

And Abraham came near and said,“ Would You also destroy the righteous with the wicked?

And Abraham drew near, and said, Wilt thou consume the righteous with the wicked?

Abraham stepped forward and said,“ Will You really sweep away the righteous with the wicked?

And Abraham drew near, and said, Wilt thou also destroy the righteous with the wicked?

Abraham approached and said,“ Will you sweep away the godly along with the wicked?

Abraham came near, and said,“ Will you consume the righteous with the wicked?

But Moses and Aaron fell with their faces to the ground. They cried out,“ God, you are the God who gives life and breath to all living things. Will you be angry with the whole community when only one man sins?”

David saw the angel who was striking down the people. David said to the Lord,“ I’m the one who has sinned. I’m the one who has done what is wrong. I’m like a shepherd for these people. These people are like sheep. What have they done? Let your judgment be on me and my family.”

But Abimelek hadn’t gone near her. So he said,“ Lord, will you destroy a nation that hasn’t done anything wrong?

Doesn’t the fact that we are wrong prove more clearly that God is right? Then what can we say? Can we say that God is not fair when he brings his anger down on us? As you can tell, I am just using human ways of thinking.God is certainly fair! If he weren’t, how could he judge the world?

Can someone who hates to be fair govern? Will you bring charges against the holy and mighty God?

You would never kill godly people along with those who are evil, would you? Would you treat them all alike? You would never do anything like that! Won’t the Judge of the whole earth do what is right?”

Elijah was a human being, just as we are. He prayed hard that it wouldn’t rain. And it didn’t rain on the land for three and a half years.

The Lord is in his holy temple. The Lord is on his throne in heaven. He watches everyone on earth. His eyes study them.The Lord watches over those who do what is right. But he really hates sinful people and those who love to hurt others.He will pour out flaming coals and burning sulfur on those who do what is wrong. A hot and dry wind will destroy them.The Lord always does what is right. So he loves it when people do what is fair. Those who are honest will enjoy his blessing.

Does God ever treat people unfairly? Does the Mighty One make what is wrong appear to be right?

Their leader will be one of their own people. Their ruler will rise up from among them. I will bring him near. And he will come close to me. He will commit himself to serve me,” announces the Lord.

So let us come near to God with a sincere heart. Let us come near boldly because of our faith. Our hearts have been sprinkled. Our minds have been cleansed from a sense of guilt. Our bodies have been washed with pure water.

But I am close to you. And that’s good. Lord and King, I have made you my place of safety. I will talk about everything you have done.
