Then one of them said,“ I will surely return to you about this time next year, and Sarah your wife will have a son.” Now Sarah was listening at the entrance to the tent, which was behind him.

The Lord appeared to Isaac and said,“ Do not go down to Egypt; live in the land where I tell you to live.Stay in this land for a while, and I will be with you and will bless you. For to you and your descendants I will give all these lands and will confirm the oath I swore to your father Abraham.I will make your descendants as numerous as the stars in the sky and will give them all these lands, and through your offspring all nations on earth will be blessed,because Abraham obeyed me and did everything I required of him, keeping my commands, my decrees and my instructions.”

Sarah became pregnant and bore a son to Abraham in his old age, at the very time God had promised him.Abraham gave the name Isaac to the son Sarah bore him.

If you belong to Christ, then you are Abraham’s seed, and heirs according to the promise.

By faith he made his home in the promised land like a stranger in a foreign country; he lived in tents, as did Isaac and Jacob, who were heirs with him of the same promise.

“ If only you would hide me in the grave and conceal me till your anger has passed! If only you would set me a time and then remember me!

So Israel set out with all that was his, and when he reached Beersheba, he offered sacrifices to the God of his father Isaac.

Then he said,“ I am the God of your father, the God of Abraham, the God of Isaac and the God of Jacob.” At this, Moses hid his face, because he was afraid to look at God.

Then he blessed Joseph and said,“ May the God before whom my fathers Abraham and Isaac walked faithfully, the God who has been my shepherd all my life to this day,

Theirs are the patriarchs, and from them is traced the human ancestry of the Messiah, who is God over all, forever praised! Amen.It is not as though God’s word had failed. For not all who are descended from Israel are Israel.

For this was how the promise was stated:“ At the appointed time I will return, and Sarah will have a son.”

God heard their groaning and he remembered his covenant with Abraham, with Isaac and with Jacob.

and she said to Abraham,“ Get rid of that slave woman and her son, for that woman’s son will never share in the inheritance with my son Isaac.”The matter distressed Abraham greatly because it concerned his son.But God said to him,“ Do not be so distressed about the boy and your slave woman. Listen to whatever Sarah tells you, because it is through Isaac that your offspring will be reckoned.
