He said,“ I will certainly return to you at this time next year; and behold, your wife Sarah will have a son.” And Sarah was listening at the tent door, which was behind him.

And the Lord appeared to him and said,“ Do not go down to Egypt; stay in the land of which I shall tell you.Live for a time in this land and I will be with you and bless you, for to you and to your descendants I will give all these lands, and I will establish the oath which I swore to your father Abraham.I will multiply your descendants as the stars of heaven, and will give your descendants all these lands; and by your descendants all the nations of the earth shall be blessed,because Abraham obeyed Me and fulfilled his duty to Me, and kept My commandments, My statutes, and My laws.”

So Sarah conceived and bore a son to Abraham in his old age, at the appointed time of which God had spoken to him.Abraham named his son who was born to him, the son whom Sarah bore to him, Isaac.

And if you belong to Christ, then you are Abraham’s descendants, heirs according to promise.

By faith he lived as a stranger in the land of promise, as in a foreign land, living in tents with Isaac and Jacob, fellow heirs of the same promise;

Just as He spoke to our fathers, To Abraham and his descendants forever.”

“ Oh that You would hide me in Sheol, That You would conceal me until Your wrath returns to You, That You would set a limit for me and remember me!

So Israel set out with all that he had, and came to Beersheba, and offered sacrifices to the God of his father Isaac.

And He said,“ I am the God of your father— the God of Abraham, the God of Isaac, and the God of Jacob.” Then Moses hid his face, for he was afraid to look at God.

And he blessed Joseph, and said,“ The God before whom my fathers Abraham and Isaac walked, The God who has been my shepherd all my life to this day,

whose are the fathers, and from whom is the Christ according to the flesh, who is over all, God blessed forever. Amen.But it is not as though the word of God has failed. For they are not all Israel who are descended from Israel;

For this is the word of promise:“ At this time I will come, and Sarah will have a son.”

So God heard their groaning; and God remembered His covenant with Abraham, Isaac, and Jacob.

To show mercy to our fathers, And to remember His holy covenant,

But He said to them,“ It is not for you to know periods of time or appointed times which the Father has set by His own authority;

Therefore she said to Abraham,“ Drive out this slave woman and her son, for the son of this slave woman shall not be an heir with my son Isaac!”The matter distressed Abraham greatly because of his son Ishmael.But God said to Abraham,“ Do not be distressed because of the boy and your slave woman; whatever Sarah tells you, listen to her, for through Isaac your descendants shall be named.
