以下是撒拉的婢女埃及人夏甲，给亚伯拉罕所生的儿子以实玛利的后代。以实玛利的众子，按着他们的家谱，名字如下：以实玛利的长子是尼拜约，其次是基达、押德别、米比衫、米施玛、度玛、玛撒、哈达、提玛、伊突、拿非施和基底玛。这些都是以实玛利的儿子。他们的村庄和营地都按着他们的名字命名；他们作了十二族的族长。以实玛利一生的岁数，是一百三十七岁；他气绝而死，归到他的先人那里去了。他的子孙住在哈腓拉直到埃及东面的书珥，通往亚述的道上。以实玛利却住在自己众兄弟的东面。

耶和华的使者又对她说：“我必使你的后裔人丁兴旺，多到不可胜数。”耶和华的使者再对她说：“看哪，你已经怀了孕，你要生一个儿子；你要给他起名叫以实玛利，因为耶和华听见了你的苦情。他将来为人，必像野驴。他的手要攻打人，人的手也要攻打他。他必住在众兄弟的东面。”
