上帝说：“不！你妻子撒拉必为你生一个儿子，你要给他起名叫以撒。我要与他坚立我的约，成为他后裔永远的约。

神说：“不！你妻子撒拉必为你生一个儿子，你要给他起名叫以撒。我要与他坚立我的约，成为他后裔永远的约。

上帝说：“不，你妻子撒拉必为你生一个儿子，你要给他取名叫以撒，我必向他和他的后代坚守我的约，直到永远。

神说：“你的妻子撒拉，真的要为你生一个儿子，你要给他起名叫以撒，我要与他坚立我的约，作他后裔的永约。

神說：“你的妻子撒拉，真的要為你生一個兒子，你要給他起名叫以撒，我要與他堅立我的約，作他後裔的永約。

上帝說：『不，是你妻子撒拉必給你生個兒子；你要給他起名叫以撒；我要同他堅立我的約，做他以後的苗裔永遠的約。

上帝曰、否、爾妻撒拉必生子、可名以撒、我將與彼立約、為其後裔之永約、

上帝曰、爾妻撒拉、果必生子、命名以撒、我將與以撒、及其後裔、立永約。

天主曰、爾妻撒拉果必生子、可命名以撒、我將與彼及其後裔立我約、以為永約、

Then God said,“ Yes, but your wife Sarah will bear you a son, and you will call him Isaac. I will establish my covenant with him as an everlasting covenant for his descendants after him.

Then God said,“ Yes, I will bless Ishmael. But your wife Sarah will have a son by you. And you will name him Isaac. I will establish my covenant with him. That covenant will last forever. It will be for Isaac and his family after him.

God said,“ No, but Sarah your wife shall bear you a son, and you shall call his name Isaac. I will establish my covenant with him as an everlasting covenant for his offspring after him.

But God replied,“ No— Sarah, your wife, will give birth to a son for you. You will name him Isaac, and I will confirm my covenant with him and his descendants as an everlasting covenant.

But God said,“ No. Your wife Sarah will bear you a son, and you will name him Isaac. I will confirm my covenant with him as a permanent covenant for his future offspring.

But God said,“ No, but your wife Sarah will bear you a son, and you shall name him Isaac; and I will establish My covenant with him as an everlasting covenant for his descendants after him.

Then God said:“ No, Sarah your wife shall bear you a son, and you shall call his name Isaac; I will establish My covenant with him for an everlasting covenant, and with his descendants after him.

And God said, Nay, but Sarah thy wife shall bear thee a son; and thou shalt call his name Isaac: and I will establish my covenant with him for an everlasting covenant for his seed after him.

But God said,“ No. Your wife Sarah will bear you a son, and you will name him Isaac. I will confirm My covenant with him as an everlasting covenant for his future offspring.

And God said, Sarah thy wife shall bear thee a son indeed; and thou shalt call his name Isaac: and I will establish my covenant with him for an everlasting covenant,[ and] with his seed after him.

God said,“ No, Sarah your wife is going to bear you a son, and you will name him Isaac. I will confirm my covenant with him as a perpetual covenant for his descendants after him.

God said,“ No, but Sarah, your wife, will bear you a son. You shall call his name Isaac. I will establish my covenant with him for an everlasting covenant for his offspring after him.

但這並不是說神的話語落了空，因為由以色列所生的，並不都是以色列人；也不因為是亞伯拉罕的後裔，就都是他的兒女；只有「從以撒生的，才會被稱為你的後裔。」這就是說，肉身的兒女並不是神的兒女，只有應許的兒女才算是後裔。原來所應許的話是這樣的：「到明年這時候我要來，撒拉會生一個兒子。」

天使對他說：「撒迦利亞，不要怕，因為你的祈禱已蒙垂聽。你的妻子伊莉莎白要為你生一個兒子，你要給他起名叫約翰。他將使你歡喜、快樂，許多人也會因他的誕生而歡欣，因為他將要在主面前為大。淡酒和烈酒他絕不能喝，還在母腹中的時候，他就會被聖靈充滿。他將使許多以色列子民歸向主——他們的神。他將藉著以利亞的靈和能力，在主的面前先行，使父親的心轉向兒女，使悖逆的人轉向義人的智慧，好為主準備一群預備好了的子民。」撒迦利亞對天使說：「我憑著什麼能知道這事呢？我是個老人，我的妻子也上了年紀。」天使回答他，說：「我是站在神面前的加百列，奉差派來對你說話，向你傳達這些好消息。看哪，你要成為啞巴，不能說話，一直到這些事成就的日子，因為你不相信我的話！到了時候，我的話就會應驗。」

撒拉懷了孕，到了神對亞伯拉罕說的那個所定時期，在亞伯拉罕年老的時候，為他生了一個兒子。亞伯拉罕給撒拉為他所生的兒子，起名為以撒。

不過弟兄們，你們就像以撒一樣，是應許的兒女。但正如那由肉體生的當時逼迫了那由聖靈生的，現在也是這樣。然而經上是怎麼說的呢？「把女僕和她的兒子趕出去！因為女僕的兒子，絕不可以與自由女人的兒子一同做繼承人。」因此，弟兄們，我們不是女僕的兒女，而是自由女人的兒女。

撒拉說：「神使我歡笑，所有聽見的人也必與我一同歡笑。」

其中一位說：「明年這時候，我一定回到你這裡。看哪，你的妻子撒拉將會有一個兒子！」當時撒拉正在那人後面的帳篷入口聽著。亞伯拉罕和撒拉都已經老了，上了年紀，撒拉的月事也停止了。撒拉暗笑，心裡說：「我已經衰老，我的丈夫也老了，我還能有這等快樂嗎？」耶和華對亞伯拉罕說：「撒拉為什麼暗笑，說：『我已經老了，真的還能生育嗎？』在耶和華還有難成的事嗎？到了所定的時期，明年這時候，我必回到你這裡；那時撒拉就會有一個兒子。」

你要寄居在這地，我必與你同在，並祝福你，因為我必把所有這些地都賜給你和你的後裔；我必確立我向你父親亞伯拉罕所起的誓。

而我的約，我要與以撒確立。這以撒，就是撒拉要在明年所定的時期為你生的兒子。」
