上帝說：『不，是你妻子撒拉必給你生個兒子；你要給他起名叫以撒；我要同他堅立我的約，做他以後的苗裔永遠的約。

神說：「不，你的妻子撒拉將為你生一個兒子，你要給他起名為以撒。我要與他確立我的約，作為他後裔永遠的約。

上帝曰、爾妻撒拉、果必生子、命名以撒、我將與以撒、及其後裔、立永約。

Then God said,“ Yes, but your wife Sarah will bear you a son, and you will call him Isaac. I will establish my covenant with him as an everlasting covenant for his descendants after him.

Then God said,“ Yes, I will bless Ishmael. But your wife Sarah will have a son by you. And you will name him Isaac. I will establish my covenant with him. That covenant will last forever. It will be for Isaac and his family after him.

God said,“ No, but Sarah your wife shall bear you a son, and you shall call his name Isaac. I will establish my covenant with him as an everlasting covenant for his offspring after him.

But God replied,“ No— Sarah, your wife, will give birth to a son for you. You will name him Isaac, and I will confirm my covenant with him and his descendants as an everlasting covenant.

But God said,“ No. Your wife Sarah will bear you a son, and you will name him Isaac. I will confirm my covenant with him as a permanent covenant for his future offspring.

But God said,“ No, but your wife Sarah will bear you a son, and you shall name him Isaac; and I will establish My covenant with him as an everlasting covenant for his descendants after him.

Then God said:“ No, Sarah your wife shall bear you a son, and you shall call his name Isaac; I will establish My covenant with him for an everlasting covenant, and with his descendants after him.

And God said, Nay, but Sarah thy wife shall bear thee a son; and thou shalt call his name Isaac: and I will establish my covenant with him for an everlasting covenant for his seed after him.

But God said,“ No. Your wife Sarah will bear you a son, and you will name him Isaac. I will confirm My covenant with him as an everlasting covenant for his future offspring.

And God said, Sarah thy wife shall bear thee a son indeed; and thou shalt call his name Isaac: and I will establish my covenant with him for an everlasting covenant,[ and] with his seed after him.

God said,“ No, Sarah your wife is going to bear you a son, and you will name him Isaac. I will confirm my covenant with him as a perpetual covenant for his descendants after him.

God said,“ No, but Sarah, your wife, will bear you a son. You shall call his name Isaac. I will establish my covenant with him for an everlasting covenant for his offspring after him.

當然，這並不表示上帝的話落了空，因為從以色列生的，不一定都是以色列人，亞伯拉罕的後裔不一定都是亞伯拉罕的兒女，聖經上說：「以撒生的才可算為你的後裔。」這話的意思是：亞伯拉罕憑血氣所生的兒女並不是上帝的兒女，只有憑應許所生的才算是他的後裔。因為上帝曾這樣應許他：「明年這時候，我會再來，撒拉必生一個兒子。」

天使對他說：「撒迦利亞，不要害怕，你的禱告已蒙垂聽。你的妻子伊莉莎白要為你生一個兒子，你要給他取名叫約翰。你必歡喜快樂，許多人也會因為他的誕生而欣喜雀躍，因為他將成為主偉大的僕人。他必滴酒不沾，並且在母腹裡就被聖靈充滿。他將勸導許多以色列人回心轉意，歸順主——他們的上帝。他將以先知以利亞的心志和能力作主的先鋒，使父親的心轉向兒女，使叛逆的人回轉、順從義人的智慧，為主預備合用的子民。」撒迦利亞對天使說：「我已經老了，我的妻子也上了年紀，我如何知道這是真的呢？」天使回答說：「我是侍立在上帝面前的加百列，奉命來向你報這喜訊。我說的這些話到時候必定應驗。但因為你不肯相信我的話，所以這事成就以前，你將變成啞巴，不能說話。」

亞伯拉罕年老的時候，撒拉懷了孕，在上帝指定的日期為他生了一個兒子。亞伯拉罕為兒子取名叫以撒。

弟兄姊妹，你們都像以撒一樣是照著上帝的應許出生的。當時，那按著人的意願生的兒子迫害那靠著聖靈生的兒子，現在的情況也和當時一樣。但聖經上怎麼說呢？聖經上說：「趕走婢女和她的兒子，因為婢女的兒子不能與主母的兒子一同承受產業。」弟兄姊妹，這樣看來，我們不是婢女的兒女，而是主母的兒女。

撒拉說：「上帝使我歡笑，凡聽見這事的人也必跟我一同歡笑。

以利沙對她說：「明年這時候，你必抱一個兒子。」她說：「上帝的僕人，我主啊，不要騙我。」那婦人果然懷了孕，在第二年的那時候生了一個兒子，應驗了以利沙對她說的話。

其中一人說：「明年這時候，我會再來你這裡，撒拉必生一個兒子。」這話被站在那人後面帳篷口的撒拉聽見了。亞伯拉罕和撒拉已經年紀老邁，撒拉的月經也已經停了。撒拉暗自發笑，心想：「我已經這麼老了，還會有這種福氣嗎？況且我的丈夫也很老了。」耶和華問亞伯拉罕：「撒拉為什麼偷笑說，『我這把年紀還會有孩子嗎？』什麼事難得住耶和華呢？明年這時候，我會再來你這裡，撒拉必生一個兒子。」

你寄居在這裡，我必與你同在，賜福給你，因為我必把這些土地賜給你和你的後代，堅立我對你父親亞伯拉罕的誓約。

撒拉必在明年這時候給你生以撒，我必向他堅守我的約。」
