上帝又說：「我是全能的上帝，你要生養眾多，一國，甚至多國必從你而出，許多君王必出自你的子孫。

我要使你的子孫極其興旺，許多民族和君王必從你而出。

我必使你成為大國，我必賜福給你，使你聲名遠播。你必成為別人的祝福。

其中一人說：「明年這時候，我會再來你這裡，撒拉必生一個兒子。」這話被站在那人後面帳篷口的撒拉聽見了。亞伯拉罕和撒拉已經年紀老邁，撒拉的月經也已經停了。撒拉暗自發笑，心想：「我已經這麼老了，還會有這種福氣嗎？況且我的丈夫也很老了。」耶和華問亞伯拉罕：「撒拉為什麼偷笑說，『我這把年紀還會有孩子嗎？』什麼事難得住耶和華呢？明年這時候，我會再來你這裡，撒拉必生一個兒子。」

因為上帝曾這樣應許他：「明年這時候，我會再來，撒拉必生一個兒子。」

正如撒拉順服亞伯拉罕，稱他為主人。所以，如果你們做對的事，不怕恐嚇，就是撒拉的女兒。

那天上的耶路撒冷則是自由的，是我們的母親。因為聖經上說：「不生育、未生養的婦人啊，要快樂；未曾生產的女子啊，要高聲歡呼，因為沒有丈夫的比有丈夫的兒女更多。」弟兄姊妹，你們都像以撒一樣是照著上帝的應許出生的。當時，那按著人的意願生的兒子迫害那靠著聖靈生的兒子，現在的情況也和當時一樣。但聖經上怎麼說呢？聖經上說：「趕走婢女和她的兒子，因為婢女的兒子不能與主母的兒子一同承受產業。」弟兄姊妹，這樣看來，我們不是婢女的兒女，而是主母的兒女。

上帝賜福給他們，對他們說：「你們要生養眾多，遍佈地面，治理大地，管理海裡的魚、空中的鳥以及地上的各種動物。」

並為利百加祝福，說：「我們的妹妹啊，願你成為千萬人之母！願你的後代戰勝仇敵！」

列王必做你的養父，王后必做你的褓姆。他們必向你俯伏下拜，舔你腳上的塵土。那時你便知道我是耶和華，信靠我的必不致失望。」
