基拉耳的牧人与以撒的牧人争吵起来，都说：“这口井是我们的。”于是，以撒便称那口井为埃色。

亚伯兰继续前行，来到示剑的摩利橡树那里。当时迦南人住在那地方。

你们在异教徒当中要品行端正。这样，尽管他们毁谤你们是作恶的人，但看见你们的好行为，也会在主来的日子把荣耀归给上帝。

这时，来了另外一群牧人要把她们赶走。摩西便起来帮助她们，打水饮她们的羊群。

我继续说：“你们的所作所为实在不对。难道你们不应该敬畏上帝，以免我们的仇敌凌辱我们吗？

从前我们也愚蠢、悖逆、易受迷惑，受各种私欲和享乐的驱使，心里充满了嫉妒和恶念，令人憎恶，也彼此憎恨。

由于亚比米勒的仆人霸占了一口水井，亚伯拉罕就指责亚比米勒。

你们要把握时机，运用智慧和非信徒交往。

哪里有嫉妒和自私的野心，哪里就会有混乱和各样的恶事。

你们彼此冲突、互相斗殴的起因是什么呢？不就是你们身体中不断交战的欲望吗？

雅各责备西缅和利未说：“你们为什么要给我惹麻烦，使我在当地的迦南人和比利洗人中留下臭名呢？我们人数很少，要是他们联手来攻击我们，我们全家必遭灭门之祸。”

你们仍然是属肉体的人，因为你们中间有嫉妒、争斗。这岂不证明你们是属肉体的，行事为人和世人一样吗？

无论做什么事，都不要抱怨，也不要与人争论，好使你们在这个弯曲败坏的时代中无可指责、诚实无伪，做上帝纯洁无瑕的儿女，如同明光照耀在世上，

这样，你们可以得到外人的尊敬，不必依赖任何人。

拜偶像、行邪术、仇恨、争吵、忌恨、恼怒、纷争、冲突、分裂、

就在那天，耶和华跟亚伯兰立约，说：“我必将这片土地赐给你的后代，使他们得到从埃及河到幼发拉底河一带的土地，就是基尼人、基尼洗人、甲摩尼人、赫人、比利洗人、利乏音人、亚摩利人、迦南人、革迦撒人和耶布斯人的土地。”

迦南的疆域从西顿向基拉耳延伸，远至迦萨，再向所多玛、蛾摩拉、押玛、洗扁延伸，远至拉沙。
