这样的人是假使徒，是诡诈的工人，装成基督的使徒。

那凭着自己的意思说的，是求自己的荣誉；但那寻求差他来者的荣耀的，才是真诚的人，在他里面没有不义。

他们所作的一切，都是要作给人看：他们把经文的匣子做大了，衣服的繸子做长了；

然而有几个法利赛派的信徒站起来，说：“我们必须给外族人行割礼，吩咐他们遵守摩西的律法。”

有些人传扬基督是出于嫉妒和纷争，但也有些人是出于好意。

那些受割礼的人，自己也不遵守律法，反而要你们受割礼，为的是要藉着你们的肉身夸口。

耶稣对他们说：“你们在人面前自称为义，神却知道你们的心；因为人所高举的，神却看作是可憎恶的。

“你们禁食的时候，不可像伪君子那样愁眉苦脸，他们装成难看的样子，叫人看出他们在禁食。我实在告诉你们，他们已经得了他们的赏赐。

他们吞没了寡妇的房产，又用冗长的祷告作掩饰。这等人必受更重的刑罚。”

各人不要单顾自己的事，也要顾别人的事。

我们不敢和那些自我推荐的人相提并论；他们拿自己来量自己，拿自己来比自己，实在不大聪明。

因此你施舍的时候，不可到处张扬，好像伪君子在会堂和街上所作的一样，以博取众人的称赞。我实在告诉你们，他们已经得了他们的赏赐。

照样，你们外面看来像义人，里面却充塞着虚伪和不法。

但我一见他们所行的不合福音的真理，就当众对矶法说：“你是犹太人，生活既然像外族人而不像犹太人，怎么还勉强外族人跟随犹太人的规矩呢？”

我常常告诉你们，现在又流着泪说，有许多人行事为人，是基督十字架的仇敌，

“你们祈祷的时候，不可像伪君子；他们喜欢在会堂和路口站着祈祷，好让人看见。我实在告诉你们，他们已经得了他们的赏赐。
