你們若存着苦毒的妒忌和營私爭勝在心裏，別自己誇勝、作假事以敵真理了。這樣的智慧不是從上頭下來的，是屬地上、屬血氣、屬鬼魔的。哪裏有妒忌和營私爭勝，哪裏就有擾亂和各樣的壞事。

所以栽種的算不了甚麼，澆灌的也算不了甚麼，惟獨使他長大的上帝乃是一切之一切。

所以你們在基督裏若有任何鼓勵、或愛心的激發，靈裏若有任何團契、或慈悲心腸和憐憫，你們就該存着同樣的意念，有同樣的愛心，同心同情，存着同一的意念使我的喜樂充滿。凡事都不要憑着營私爭勝而作，也不要憑着虛榮心，只要以謙卑彼此看別人比自己高強。

你們要謹慎，若相咬相吞，只怕彼此消滅呀！

如今呢、你們竟拿自己所矜誇的來誇口啊！這樣的誇口都是惡的。

你們年輕的、照樣要順服年長的。你們眾人、彼此相待、都要以謙卑為裝束；因為上帝敵擋狂傲的，賜恩給謙卑的人。

不，你被請的時候、要去坐末位；這樣，那請你的人來的時候、好對你說：「朋友，請上頭坐吧」。那時你在一同坐席的眾人面前就有光榮了。
