Dear brothers and sisters, if I were still preaching that you must be circumcised— as some say I do— why am I still being persecuted? If I were no longer preaching salvation through the cross of Christ, no one would be offended.

弟兄們，我若仍舊傳割禮，為甚麼還受逼迫呢？若是這樣，那十字架討厭的地方就沒有了。

弟兄們，我若仍舊傳割禮，為甚麼還受迫害呢？若是這樣，十字架絆倒人的地方就沒有了。

至於我呢、弟兄們，我若還在宣傳割禮，為甚麼還受逼迫呢？若是那樣，十字架之被看為信仰障礙不就早已除掉了麼！

弟兄們，如果我仍然傳講割禮，我為什麼還受逼迫呢？如果我這樣做，十字架使人絆腳的地方早就沒有了。

兄弟乎、若我尚宣割禮、何至猶見窘逐乎、若然、則十架之蹇礙已廢矣、

兄弟乎、若我言人當受割禮、何至今猶窘逐我乎、彼亦不厭十字架之道矣、

兄弟乎、若我仍傳割禮、何至尚受窘逐乎、若傳割禮、則十字架之道、不被人厭棄矣、

兄弟乎、苟我今猶鼓吹割禮、則何為尚受排擯耶？夫然則十字架亦不當復被視為眼中釘矣。

Brothers and sisters, if I am still preaching circumcision, why am I still being persecuted? In that case the offense of the cross has been abolished.

Brothers and sisters, I no longer preach that people must be circumcised. If I did, why am I still being opposed? If I preached that, then the cross wouldn’t upset anyone.

But if I, brothers, still preach circumcision, why am I still being persecuted? In that case the offense of the cross has been removed.

Now brothers and sisters, if I still preach circumcision, why am I still persecuted? In that case the offense of the cross has been abolished.

But as for me, brothers and sisters, if I still preach circumcision, why am I still persecuted? Then the stumbling block of the cross has been eliminated.

And I, brethren, if I still preach circumcision, why do I still suffer persecution? Then the offense of the cross has ceased.

But I, brethren, if I still preach circumcision, why am I still persecuted? then hath the stumbling- block of the cross been done away.

Now brothers, if I still preach circumcision, why am I still persecuted? In that case the offense of the cross has been abolished.

And I, brethren, if I yet preach circumcision, why do I yet suffer persecution? then is the offence of the cross ceased.

Now, brothers and sisters, if I am still preaching circumcision, why am I still being persecuted? In that case the offense of the cross has been removed.

But I, brothers, if I still preach circumcision, why am I still persecuted? Then the stumbling block of the cross has been removed.

So when we preach that Christ was crucified, the Jews are offended and the Gentiles say it’s all nonsense.

Those who are trying to force you to be circumcised want to look good to others. They don’t want to be persecuted for teaching that the cross of Christ alone can save.

But you are now being persecuted by those who want you to keep the law, just as Ishmael, the child born by human effort, persecuted Isaac, the child born by the power of the Spirit.

And why should we ourselves risk our lives hour by hour?

And they supported me and did not even demand that my companion Titus be circumcised, though he was a Gentile.

But the Jewish believers here in Jerusalem have been told that you are teaching all the Jews who live among the Gentiles to turn their backs on the laws of Moses. They’ve heard that you teach them not to circumcise their children or follow other Jewish customs.

so Paul wanted him to join them on their journey. In deference to the Jews of the area, he arranged for Timothy to be circumcised before they left, for everyone knew that his father was a Greek.

“ But the Lord said to me,‘ Go, for I will send you far away to the Gentiles!’”The crowd listened until Paul said that word. Then they all began to shout,“ Away with such a fellow! He isn’t fit to live!”

Are they servants of Christ? I know I sound like a madman, but I have served him far more! I have worked harder, been put in prison more often, been whipped times without number, and faced death again and again.Five different times the Jewish leaders gave me thirty nine lashes.Three times I was beaten with rods. Once I was stoned. Three times I was shipwrecked. Once I spent a whole night and a day adrift at sea.I have traveled on many long journeys. I have faced danger from rivers and from robbers. I have faced danger from my own people, the Jews, as well as from the Gentiles. I have faced danger in the cities, in the deserts, and on the seas. And I have faced danger from men who claim to be believers but are not.

He will keep you safe. But to Israel and Judah he will be a stone that makes people stumble, a rock that makes them fall. And for the people of Jerusalem he will be a trap and a snare.

From now on, don’t let anyone trouble me with these things. For I bear on my body the scars that show I belong to Jesus.

yelling,“ Men of Israel, help us! This is the man who preaches against our people everywhere and tells everybody to disobey the Jewish laws. He speaks against the Temple— and even defiles this holy place by bringing in Gentiles.”

Why not? Because they were trying to get right with God by keeping the law instead of by trusting in him. They stumbled over the great rock in their path.God warned them of this in the Scriptures when he said,“ I am placing a stone in Jerusalem that makes people stumble, a rock that makes them fall. But anyone who trusts in him will never be disgraced.”

And,“ He is the stone that makes people stumble, the rock that makes them fall.” They stumble because they do not obey God’s word, and so they meet the fate that was planned for them.But you are not like that, for you are a chosen people. You are royal priests, a holy nation, God’s very own possession. As a result, you can show others the goodness of God, for he called you out of the darkness into his wonderful light.

The message of the cross is foolish to those who are headed for destruction! But we who are being saved know it is the very power of God.

There were more than forty of them in the conspiracy.They went to the leading priests and elders and told them,“ We have bound ourselves with an oath to eat nothing until we have killed Paul.
