奴隶不能永远留在主人的家里，只有儿子才可以。

你们接受的圣灵不是使你们做奴隶，仍旧害怕，而是使你们做儿子，可以称上帝为“阿爸，父亲”。圣灵亲自与我们的心一同见证我们是上帝的儿女。既然我们是儿女，就是继承人，是上帝的后嗣，并且与基督同做后嗣。所以，如果现在我们和基督一同受苦，将来也必和祂一同得荣耀。

这该怎么说呢？以色列人努力追求，却一无所得，只有蒙拣选的人得到了，其他的人都变得顽固不化。正如圣经上说：“上帝使他们至今心智昏迷，眼睛看不见，耳朵听不到。”大卫也说：“愿他们的宴席成为网罗、陷阱、绊脚石，给他们带来报应；愿他们眼目昏暗，无法看见，永远弯腰驼背。”那么，以色列人一失足就再也爬不起来了吗？当然不是！恰好相反，因他们的过犯，救恩临到了外族人，使他们心生嫉妒。

但圣经说万物都在罪的权势下，为要使那些相信的人因为相信耶稣基督而得到应许。

上帝并没有放弃祂预先拣选的子民。你们不知道圣经上有关以利亚先知的记载吗？他在上帝面前控告以色列人，说：

圣经早就指明，上帝要叫外族人因信而被称为义人，祂预先将福音传给亚伯拉罕，说：“万国必因你而蒙福。”

圣经上不是说“亚伯拉罕信上帝，就被算为义人”吗？

圣经上说：“上帝所赐、住在我们心里的圣灵深愿我们完全属于祂。”你们以为这是空谈吗？
