爾若是之愚乎、始之以聖神、今成之以形軀乎、

何爾竟如此之無知耶、始則受聖神、今乃以儀文終乎、

爾始以聖神、今欲終以儀文、爾竟如此無知乎、

其以聖神始、而以形跡終乎？豈爾之冥頑不靈、一至於此乎？

Are you so foolish? After beginning by means of the Spirit, are you now trying to finish by means of the flesh?

Are you so foolish? You began by the Holy Spirit. Are you now trying to finish God’s work in you by your own strength?

Are you so foolish? Having begun by the Spirit, are you now being perfected by the flesh?

How foolish can you be? After starting your new lives in the Spirit, why are you now trying to become perfect by your own human effort?

你們這要靠律法稱義的是與基督隔絕，從恩典中墜落了。至於我們，我們是靠着聖靈，憑着信心，等候所盼望的義。因為在基督耶穌裏，受割禮不受割禮都沒有功效，惟獨使人發出仁愛的信心才有功效。你們向來跑得好，誰攔阻了你們，使你們不順從真理呢？這樣的勸導不是出於那召你們的。

那第一層帳幕是現今時代的一個預表，表示所獻的禮物和祭物都不能使敬拜的人在良心上得以完全。這些事只不過是有關飲食和各種潔淨的規矩，是屬肉體的條例，它的功效是直到新次序的時期來到為止。

那些想要炫耀外表的人才勉強你們受割禮，無非是怕自己為基督的十字架受迫害。他們那些受割禮的，連自己也不守律法；他們要你們受割禮，不過是要拿你們的肉體誇口。但我絕不以別的誇口，只誇我們主耶穌基督的十字架；因這十字架，就我而論，世界已經釘在十字架上；就世界而論，我已經釘在十字架上。

可見，你不再是奴隸，而是兒子了，既然是兒子，就靠着上帝也成為後嗣了。但從前不認識上帝的時候，你們是給那些本來不是上帝的神明作奴隸；現在你們既然認識上帝，更可說是被上帝所認識的，怎麼還要轉回那懦弱無用的粗淺學說，情願再給它們作奴隸呢？你們竟又謹守日子、月份、節期、年份，

他成為祭司，並不是照屬肉身的條例，而是照無窮生命的大能。因為有給他作見證的說：「你是照着麥基洗德的體系永遠為祭司。」一方面，先前的誡命因軟弱無能而廢掉了，（律法本來就不能成就甚麼）；另一方面，一個更好的指望被引進來，靠這指望，我們就可以親近上帝。

因為那預備好了的帳幕，第一層叫聖所，裏面有燈臺、供桌和供餅。
