Christ redeemed us from the curse of the law by becoming a curse for us, for it is written:“ Cursed is everyone who is hung on a pole.”

He taketh away the first, that he may establish the second.By the which will we are sanctified through the offering of the body of Jesus Christ once[ for all].

Neither by the blood of goats and calves, but by his own blood he entered in once into the holy place, having obtained eternal redemption[ for us].

To redeem them that were under the law, that we might receive the adoption of sons.

The God of our fathers raised up Jesus, whom ye slew and hanged on a tree.

For such an high priest became us,[ who is] holy, harmless, undefiled, separate from sinners, and made higher than the heavens;Who needeth not daily, as those high priests, to offer up sacrifice, first for his own sins, and then for the people’s: for this he did once, when he offered up himself.

Who was delivered for our offences, and was raised again for our justification.

Who gave himself for us, that he might redeem us from all iniquity, and purify unto himself a peculiar people, zealous of good works.

And walk in love, as Christ also hath loved us, and hath given himself for us an offering and a sacrifice to God for a sweetsmelling savour.

Seventy weeks are determined upon thy people and upon thy holy city, to finish the transgression, and to make an end of sins, and to make reconciliation for iniquity, and to bring in everlasting righteousness, and to seal up the vision and prophecy, and to anoint the most Holy.

Wherefore David said unto the Gibeonites, What shall I do for you? and wherewith shall I make the atonement, that ye may bless the inheritance of the LORD?

So that the LORD could no longer bear, because of the evil of your doings,[ and] because of the abominations which ye have committed; therefore is your land a desolation, and an astonishment, and a curse, without an inhabitant, as at this day.

And the king commanded it so to be done: and the decree was given at Shushan; and they hanged Haman’s ten sons.

And after threescore and two weeks shall Messiah be cut off, but not for himself: and the people of the prince that shall come shall destroy the city and the sanctuary; and the end thereof[ shall be] with a flood, and unto the end of the war desolations are determined.

And he cast down the pieces of silver in the temple, and departed, and went and hanged himself.

For I could wish that myself were accursed from Christ for my brethren, my kinsmen according to the flesh:

Then said Joab, I may not tarry thus with thee. And he took three darts in his hand, and thrust them through the heart of Absalom, while he[ was] yet alive in the midst of the oak.And ten young men that bare Joab’s armour compassed about and smote Absalom, and slew him.

And all that dwell upon the earth shall worship him, whose names are not written in the book of life of the Lamb slain from the foundation of the world.

So they hanged Haman on the gallows that he had prepared for Mordecai. Then was the king’s wrath pacified.

Behold, thou shalt call a nation[ that] thou knowest not, and nations[ that] knew not thee shall run unto thee because of the LORD thy God, and for the Holy One of Israel; for he hath glorified thee.Seek ye the LORD while he may be found, call ye upon him while he is near:Let the wicked forsake his way, and the unrighteous man his thoughts: and let him return unto the LORD, and he will have mercy upon him; and to our God, for he will abundantly pardon.

And afterward Joshua smote them, and slew them, and hanged them on five trees: and they were hanging upon the trees until the evening.And it came to pass at the time of the going down of the sun,[ that] Joshua commanded, and they took them down off the trees, and cast them into the cave wherein they had been hid, and laid great stones in the cave’s mouth,[ which remain] until this very day.

And when Ahithophel saw that his counsel was not followed, he saddled[ his] ass, and arose, and gat him home to his house, to his city, and put his household in order, and hanged himself, and died, and was buried in the sepulchre of his father.

And he delivered them into the hands of the Gibeonites, and they hanged them in the hill before the LORD: and they fell[ all] seven together, and were put to death in the days of harvest, in the first[ days], in the beginning of barley harvest.
