Then the prophets, Haggai the prophet, and Zechariah the son of Iddo, prophesied unto the Jews that[ were] in Judah and Jerusalem in the name of the God of Israel,[ even] unto them.

Now Haggai the prophet and Zechariah the prophet, a descendant of Iddo, prophesied to the Jews in Judah and Jerusalem in the name of the God of Israel, who was over them.

Haggai and Zechariah, the prophets, prophesied to the Jews in Judah and Jerusalem. They spoke to them in the name of the God of Israel. God had spoken to those prophets. Zechariah belonged to the family line of Iddo.

Now the prophets, Haggai and Zechariah the son of Iddo, prophesied to the Jews who were in Judah and Jerusalem, in the name of the God of Israel who was over them.

Then he answered and spake unto me, saying, This[ is] the word of the LORD unto Zerubbabel, saying, Not by might, nor by power, but by my spirit, saith the LORD of hosts.Who[ art] thou, O great mountain? before Zerubbabel[ thou shalt become] a plain: and he shall bring forth the headstone[ thereof with] shoutings,[ crying], Grace, grace unto it.Moreover the word of the LORD came unto me, saying,The hands of Zerubbabel have laid the foundation of this house; his hands shall also finish it; and thou shalt know that the LORD of hosts hath sent me unto you.For who hath despised the day of small things? for they shall rejoice, and shall see the plummet in the hand of Zerubbabel[ with] those seven; they[ are] the eyes of the LORD, which run to and fro through the whole earth.

In the second year of Darius the king, in the sixth month, in the first day of the month, came the word of the LORD by Haggai the prophet unto Zerubbabel the son of Shealtiel, governor of Judah, and to Joshua the son of Josedech, the high priest, saying,Thus speaketh the LORD of hosts, saying, This people say, The time is not come, the time that the LORD’S house should be built.Then came the word of the LORD by Haggai the prophet, saying,[ Is it] time for you, O ye, to dwell in your cieled houses, and this house[ lie] waste?Now therefore thus saith the LORD of hosts; Consider your ways.Ye have sown much, and bring in little; ye eat, but ye have not enough; ye drink, but ye are not filled with drink; ye clothe you, but there is none warm; and he that earneth wages earneth wages[ to put it] into a bag with holes.Thus saith the LORD of hosts; Consider your ways.Go up to the mountain, and bring wood, and build the house; and I will take pleasure in it, and I will be glorified, saith the LORD.Ye looked for much, and, lo,[ it came] to little; and when ye brought[ it] home, I did blow upon it. Why? saith the LORD of hosts. Because of mine house that[ is] waste, and ye run every man unto his own house.Therefore the heaven over you is stayed from dew, and the earth is stayed[ from] her fruit.And I called for a drought upon the land, and upon the mountains, and upon the corn, and upon the new wine, and upon the oil, and upon[ that] which the ground bringeth forth, and upon men, and upon cattle, and upon all the labour of the hands.Then Zerubbabel the son of Shealtiel, and Joshua the son of Josedech, the high priest, with all the remnant of the people, obeyed the voice of the LORD their God, and the words of Haggai the prophet, as the LORD their God had sent him, and the people did fear before the LORD.Then spake Haggai the LORD’S messenger in the LORD’S message unto the people, saying, I[ am] with you, saith the LORD.And the LORD stirred up the spirit of Zerubbabel the son of Shealtiel, governor of Judah, and the spirit of Joshua the son of Josedech, the high priest, and the spirit of all the remnant of the people; and they came and did work in the house of the LORD of hosts, their God,In the four and twentieth day of the sixth month, in the second year of Darius the king.In the seventh[ month], in the one and twentieth[ day] of the month, came the word of the LORD by the prophet Haggai, saying,

In the eighth month, in the second year of Darius, came the word of the LORD unto Zechariah, the son of Berechiah, the son of Iddo the prophet, saying,The LORD hath been sore displeased with your fathers.Therefore say thou unto them, Thus saith the LORD of hosts; Turn ye unto me, saith the LORD of hosts, and I will turn unto you, saith the LORD of hosts.Be ye not as your fathers, unto whom the former prophets have cried, saying, Thus saith the LORD of hosts; Turn ye now from your evil ways, and[ from] your evil doings: but they did not hear, nor hearken unto me, saith the LORD.Your fathers, where[ are] they? and the prophets, do they live for ever?But my words and my statutes, which I commanded my servants the prophets, did they not take hold of your fathers? and they returned and said, Like as the LORD of hosts thought to do unto us, according to our ways, and according to our doings, so hath he dealt with us.Upon the four and twentieth day of the eleventh month, which[ is] the month Sebat, in the second year of Darius, came the word of the LORD unto Zechariah, the son of Berechiah, the son of Iddo the prophet, saying,I saw by night, and behold a man riding upon a red horse, and he stood among the myrtle trees that[ were] in the bottom; and behind him[ were there] red horses, speckled, and white.Then said I, O my lord, what[ are] these? And the angel that talked with me said unto me, I will shew thee what these[ be].And the man that stood among the myrtle trees answered and said, These[ are they] whom the LORD hath sent to walk to and fro through the earth.And they answered the angel of the LORD that stood among the myrtle trees, and said, We have walked to and fro through the earth, and, behold, all the earth sitteth still, and is at rest.Then the angel of the LORD answered and said, O LORD of hosts, how long wilt thou not have mercy on Jerusalem and on the cities of Judah, against which thou hast had indignation these threescore and ten years?And the LORD answered the angel that talked with me[ with] good words[ and] comfortable words.So the angel that communed with me said unto me, Cry thou, saying, Thus saith the LORD of hosts; I am jealous for Jerusalem and for Zion with a great jealousy.And I am very sore displeased with the heathen[ that are] at ease: for I was but a little displeased, and they helped forward the affliction.Therefore thus saith the LORD; I am returned to Jerusalem with mercies: my house shall be built in it, saith the LORD of hosts, and a line shall be stretched forth upon Jerusalem.Cry yet, saying, Thus saith the LORD of hosts; My cities through prosperity shall yet be spread abroad; and the LORD shall yet comfort Zion, and shall yet choose Jerusalem.Then lifted I up mine eyes, and saw, and behold four horns.And I said unto the angel that talked with me, What[ be] these? And he answered me, These[ are] the horns which have scattered Judah, Israel, and Jerusalem.And the LORD shewed me four carpenters.Then said I, What come these to do? And he spake, saying, These[ are] the horns which have scattered Judah, so that no man did lift up his head: but these are come to fray them, to cast out the horns of the Gentiles, which lifted up[ their] horn over the land of Judah to scatter it.

And he shall stand and feed in the strength of the LORD, in the majesty of the name of the LORD his God; and they shall abide: for now shall he be great unto the ends of the earth.
