And I will lay the dead bodies of the children of Israel before their idols; and I will scatter your bones round about your altars.In all your dwelling- places the cities shall be laid waste, and the high places shall be desolate; that your altars may be laid waste and made desolate, and your idols may be broken and cease, and your sun- images may be hewn down, and your works may be abolished.

At that time, saith Jehovah, they shall bring out the bones of the kings of Judah, and the bones of his princes, and the bones of the priests, and the bones of the prophets, and the bones of the inhabitants of Jerusalem, out of their graves;and they shall spread them before the sun, and the moon, and all the host of heaven, which they have loved, and which they have served, and after which they have walked, and which they have sought, and which they have worshipped: they shall not be gathered, nor be buried, they shall be for dung upon the face of the earth.

And as Josiah turned himself, he spied the sepulchres that were there in the mount; and he sent, and took the bones out of the sepulchres, and burned them upon the altar, and defiled it, according to the word of Jehovah which the man of God proclaimed, who proclaimed these things.Then he said, What monument is that which I see? And the men of the city told him, It is the sepulchre of the man of God, who came from Judah, and proclaimed these things that thou hast done against the altar of Beth- el.And he said, Let him be; let no man move his bones. So they let his bones alone, with the bones of the prophet that came out of Samaria.And all the houses also of the high places that were in the cities of Samaria, which the kings of Israel had made to provoke Jehovah to anger, Josiah took away, and did to them according to all the acts that he had done in Beth- el.And he slew all the priests of the high places that were there, upon the altars, and burned men’s bones upon them; and he returned to Jerusalem.

And he brake in pieces the pillars, and cut down the Asherim, and filled their places with the bones of men.

And they brake down the altars of the Baalim in his presence; and the sun- images that were on high above them he hewed down; and the Asherim, and the graven images, and the molten images, he brake in pieces, and made dust of them, and strewed it upon the graves of them that had sacrificed unto them.And he burnt the bones of the priests upon their altars, and purged Judah and Jerusalem.

He shall also break the pillars of Beth- shemesh, that is in the land of Egypt; and the houses of the gods of Egypt shall he burn with fire.
