“ A priest must not make himself‘ unclean’ by going near a dead person. But suppose the dead person was his father or mother. Or suppose it was his son or daughter or brother or unmarried sister. Then the priest may make himself‘ unclean.’

They shall not defile themselves by going near to a dead person. However, for father or mother, for son or daughter, for brother or unmarried sister they may defile themselves.

“ A priest must not defile himself by being in the presence of a dead person unless it is his father, mother, child, brother, or unmarried sister. In such cases it is permitted.

主諭摩西曰、爾告祭司亞倫子孫云、毋為民中之死者蒙不潔、惟為骨肉之親、若父母子女兄弟、及未出嫁、尚係處女之姊妹方可、即為民長、亦毋蒙不潔而辱其職、毋禿其首、毋薙鬚角、毋割己肉、當於其天主前成聖、勿瀆其天主之名、彼獻火祭以饗其天主耶和華、故當為聖、

論及已死者、死原文作寢下同我儕不願兄弟不知、勿為死者憂、如彼無望之外人、我儕若信耶穌死而復活、亦當信天主將使信信或作因耶穌而死者、與耶穌同來、天主將使信耶穌而死者與耶穌同來或作天主將因耶穌已死之人與之同來我儕以主之言告爾、迨主降臨時、我儕尚生者、必不先乎已死之人、

又語一人曰、爾從我、對曰、主、容我先往葬父、耶穌曰、任夫死者葬其死者、爾往傳天主國之道、
