“‘我必立一個牧人，就是我的僕人大衛，看管牠們，牧養牠們。他必牧養牠們，作牠們的牧人。

I will place over them one shepherd, my servant David, and he will tend them; he will tend them and be their shepherd.

I will place one shepherd over them. He will belong to the family line of my servant David. He will take good care of them. He will look after them. He will be their shepherd.

And I will set up over them one shepherd, my servant David, and he shall feed them: he shall feed them and be their shepherd.

他必像牧人牧養自己的羊群，像用膀臂聚集羊羔，抱在自己的懷中，慢慢引導乳養小羊的。

他們卻要事奉耶和華他們的神，和我為他們興起的大衛王。

伯利恆以法他啊！你在猶大諸城中雖然細小（“伯利恆……細小”有古卷作“以法他家啊，你在猶大諸族中雖然細小”），必有一位從你那裡出來，為我作以色列的統治者；他的根源從太初，從亙古就有了。（本節在《馬索拉文本》為5:1）因此，耶和華必把以色列人交給敵人，直到那要生產的婦人生下孩子來；那時，他其餘的兄弟，就必歸回以色列人那裡。他必站立起來，靠著耶和華的能力，靠著耶和華他神之名的威嚴，牧養他的羊群；他們必然安居，因為那時他必尊大，直到地極。這就是那帶來太平的。亞述人入侵我們的國土，踐踏我們宮殿的時候，我們就要興起七個牧者；八個作領袖的人攻擊他。

你們要側耳而聽，要到我這裡來；你們要聽，就可以存活；我必與你們立永遠的約，就是應許賜給大衛的那確實的慈愛。看哪！我已經立了他作萬族的見證人，為萬族的首領和司令。

到了牧長顯現的時候，你們必定得著那永不衰殘的榮耀冠冕。

願賜平安的神，就是那憑著永約的血，把群羊的大牧人我們的主耶穌，從死人中領出來的那一位，

從耶西的樹幹必生出一根嫩芽，從他的根而出的枝條必結果子。

你們從前好像迷路的羊，但現在已經回到你們靈魂的牧人和監督那裡了。

後來以色列人必歸回，尋求耶和華他們的神，尋求大衛他們的王。在末後的日子，他們必戰戰兢兢來到耶和華那裡，接受他的恩惠。

我要興起牧人，牧養牠們；牠們必不再恐懼驚慌，一個也不會失掉。”這是耶和華的宣告。“看哪！日子快到（這是耶和華的宣告），我必給大衛興起一個公義的苗裔；他必執政為王，行事有智慧，在地上施行公正和公義。在他執政的日子，猶大必得救，以色列也必安然居住。人要稱他的名字為‘耶和華我們的義’。”

“差遣了我的使者、為眾教會向你們證明這些事的，就是我耶穌。我是大衛的根，又是他的後裔，我是明亮的晨星。”

“刀劍哪，醒來吧！攻擊我的牧人，我的同伴，（這是萬軍之耶和華的宣告。）要擊打牧人，羊群就分散；我也要轉過手來，攻擊小羊。

智慧人的言語像刺棒，他們所彙集的箴言像釘牢的釘子，都是一位牧者所賜的。
