“‘我必立一个牧人，就是我的仆人大卫，看管它们，牧养它们。他必牧养它们，作它们的牧人。

I will place over them one shepherd, my servant David, and he will tend them; he will tend them and be their shepherd.

我是好牧人，好牧人为羊舍命。

他必像牧人牧养自己的羊群，像用膀臂聚集羊羔，抱在自己的怀中，慢慢引导乳养小羊的。

他们却要事奉耶和华他们的神，和我为他们兴起的大卫王。

伯利恒以法他啊！你在犹大诸城中虽然细小（“伯利恒……细小”有古卷作“以法他家啊，你在犹大诸族中虽然细小”），必有一位从你那里出来，为我作以色列的统治者；他的根源从太初，从亘古就有了。（本节在《马索拉文本》为5:1）因此，耶和华必把以色列人交给敌人，直到那要生产的妇人生下孩子来；那时，他其余的兄弟，就必归回以色列人那里。他必站立起来，靠着耶和华的能力，靠着耶和华他神之名的威严，牧养他的羊群；他们必然安居，因为那时他必尊大，直到地极。这就是那带来太平的。亚述人入侵我们的国土，践踏我们宫殿的时候，我们就要兴起七个牧者；八个作领袖的人攻击他。

你们要侧耳而听，要到我这里来；你们要听，就可以存活；我必与你们立永远的约，就是应许赐给大卫的那确实的慈爱。看哪！我已经立了他作万族的见证人，为万族的首领和司令。

到了牧长显现的时候，你们必定得着那永不衰残的荣耀冠冕。

愿赐平安的神，就是那凭着永约的血，把群羊的大牧人我们的主耶稣，从死人中领出来的那一位，

从耶西的树干必生出一根嫩芽，从他的根而出的枝条必结果子。

你们从前好像迷路的羊，但现在已经回到你们灵魂的牧人和监督那里了。

后来以色列人必归回，寻求耶和华他们的神，寻求大卫他们的王。在末后的日子，他们必战战兢兢来到耶和华那里，接受他的恩惠。

我要兴起牧人，牧养它们；它们必不再恐惧惊慌，一个也不会失掉。”这是耶和华的宣告。“看哪！日子快到（这是耶和华的宣告），我必给大卫兴起一个公义的苗裔；他必执政为王，行事有智慧，在地上施行公正和公义。在他执政的日子，犹大必得救，以色列也必安然居住。人要称他的名字为‘耶和华我们的义’。”

“差遣了我的使者、为众教会向你们证明这些事的，就是我耶稣。我是大卫的根，又是他的后裔，我是明亮的晨星。”

“刀剑哪，醒来吧！攻击我的牧人，我的同伴，（这是万军之耶和华的宣告。）要击打牧人，羊群就分散；我也要转过手来，攻击小羊。

智慧人的言语像刺棒，他们所汇集的箴言像钉牢的钉子，都是一位牧者所赐的。
