所以，看哪，我必与你和你的江河为敌，使埃及地，从密夺到色弗尼，直到古实边界，全然废弃荒芜。人的脚不经过，兽的蹄也不经过，四十年之久无人居住。我要使埃及地成为荒芜中最荒芜的地，使它的城镇变为荒废中最荒废的城镇，共四十年之久。我必将埃及人分散到列国，四散在列邦。

骄傲在败坏以先，内心高傲在跌倒之前。

败坏之先，人心骄傲；要得尊荣，先有谦卑。

人的高傲使自己蒙羞；心里谦逊的，必得尊荣。

“主耶和华如此说：我要毁灭偶像，从挪弗除掉神像；不再有君王出自埃及地，我要使埃及地的人惧怕。我必令巴特罗荒凉，在琐安放火，向挪施行审判。我要将我的愤怒倾倒在训，埃及的堡垒上，要剪除挪的众民。我必在埃及放火，训必大大痛苦，挪被攻破，挪弗终日遭敌侵袭。亚文和比‧伯实的年轻人必倒在刀下，这些城镇将被掳掠。我在答比匿折断埃及的轭，使它骄傲的权势止息。那时，日光必退去；至于这城，必有密云遮蔽，邻近的城镇也遭掳掠。我要如此向埃及施行审判，他们就知道我是耶和华。”

埃及成为荒凉中最荒凉的国，它的城镇变为荒废中最荒废的城镇。我在埃及放火，帮助埃及的，都遭灭绝；那时，他们就知道我是耶和华。

对他们说：‘万军之耶和华—以色列的神如此说：看哪，我必召我的仆人巴比伦王尼布甲尼撒前来，安置他的宝座在所藏的这些石头上；他要在其上支搭华丽的帐幕。他要来攻击埃及地：定为死亡的，必致死亡；定为掳掠的，必遭掳掠；定为刀杀的，必被刀杀。我要用火点燃埃及众神明的庙宇，巴比伦王要焚烧庙宇，掳去神像；他要围住埃及地，好像牧人披上外衣，从那里安然而去。他必打碎埃及地伯‧示麦的柱像，用火焚烧埃及众神明的庙宇。’”
