所以我必與你和你的河為敵；我必使埃及地，從密奪到色弗尼，直到古實邊界，都全然荒涼廢棄。人的腳必不經過那裡，獸的蹄也不經過那裡；四十年之久，無人居住。我必使埃及成為荒地中的荒地，四十年之久，它的城必成為廢城中的廢城。我必把埃及人分散到列邦，四散在各地。

在滅亡以先，必有驕傲；在跌倒以前，心中高傲。

人的驕傲必使他卑微；心裡謙卑的，必得尊榮。

主耶和華這樣說：“‘我必毀滅偶像，使虛無的神像從挪弗滅絕。必不再有君王從埃及地而出；我也必使懼怕臨到埃及地。我必使巴忒羅荒涼，也必在瑣安點起火來，又向挪施行審判。我必把我的烈怒倒在訓上，就是埃及的保障，並要剪除挪的眾民。我必在埃及點起火來；訓必有大痛苦；挪必被攻破；挪弗必終日受難。亞文和比伯實的年輕人都必倒在刀下；這些城的人必被擄去。我在答比匿折斷埃及眾軛的時候，白晝就必變為黑暗；埃及所誇耀的勢力必在其中止息；這城必有密雲遮蓋，城中的居民必被擄去。我必這樣向埃及施行審判，他們就知道我是耶和華。’”

埃及必成為荒地中的荒地，它的城必成為廢城中的廢城。我在埃及點起火來的時候，所有幫助埃及的都必滅亡；那時他們就知道我是耶和華。

然後對他們說：‘萬軍之耶和華以色列的神這樣說：看哪！我要派人去領我的僕人巴比倫王尼布甲尼撒來；我要在我所埋藏的這些石頭上安設他的王位；他必在上面張開他的帳篷。他必來攻打埃及地；那些注定死亡的，必要死亡；那些注定被擄的，必要被擄；那些注定被刀殺的，必被刀殺。他（按照《馬索拉文本》，“他”應作“我”；現參照《七十士譯本》翻譯）必焚燒埃及的神廟，把它們燒毀，並且擄掠；他必得著埃及地，好像牧人披上衣服那麼容易；他必安然離開那裡。他必打碎埃及地伯．示麥（“伯‧示麥”或譯：“太陽神廟”）的神柱，放火燒毀埃及神廟。’”
