他却背叛巴比伦王，打发使者往埃及去，要他们给他马匹和多民。他岂能亨通呢？行这样事的人岂能逃脱呢？他背约岂能逃脱呢？他轻看向王所起的誓，背弃王与他所立的约。主耶和华说：我指着我的永生起誓，他定要死在立他作王、巴比伦王的京都。敌人筑垒造台，与他打仗的时候，为要剪除多人，法老虽领大军队和大群众，还是不能帮助他。

患难时倚靠不忠诚的人，好像破坏的牙，错骨缝的脚。

投靠耶和华，强似倚赖人；投靠耶和华，强似倚赖王子。

你们不要倚靠君王，不要倚靠世人；他一点不能帮助。他的气一断，就归回尘土；他所打算的，当日就消灭了。

法老的军队已经从埃及出来，那围困耶路撒冷的迦勒底人听见他们的风声，就拔营离开耶路撒冷去了。耶和华的话临到先知耶利米说：“耶和华以色列的神如此说：犹大王打发你们来求问我，你们要如此对他说：‘那出来帮助你们法老的军队必回埃及本国去。迦勒底人必再来攻打这城，并要攻取，用火焚烧。耶和华如此说：你们不要自欺说“迦勒底人必定离开我们”，因为他们必不离开。你们即便杀败了与你们争战的迦勒底全军，但剩下受伤的人也必各人从帐棚里起来，用火焚烧这城。’”迦勒底的军队因怕法老的军队，拔营离开耶路撒冷的时候，

耶和华如此说：倚靠人血肉的膀臂，心中离弃耶和华的，那人有祸了！因他必像沙漠的杜松，不见福乐来到，却要住旷野干旱之处，无人居住的碱地。

看哪，你所倚靠的埃及是那压伤的苇杖，人若靠这杖，就必刺透他的手。埃及王法老向一切倚靠他的人也是这样。
