I have given him Egypt as a reward for his efforts because he and his army did it for me, declares the Sovereign Lord.

我要差派他去攻擊一個不敬虔的國，吩咐他去攻擊我惱怒的子民，擄去掠物，搶奪擄物，把他們踐踏，像街上的泥土一樣。但亞述並沒有這樣想過，他心裡也沒有這樣打算；他心裡倒想毀滅、剪除多國。

“我耶和華所膏立的古列，我緊握著他的右手，使列國降服在他面前；我也鬆開列王的腰帶；我使門戶在他面前敞開，使城門不得關閉；耶和華對古列這樣說：我必親自領導你，把高低不平的路修平；銅門，我必打破；鐵門，我必砍斷。我必把隱藏的寶物和在隱密處的財寶賜給你，使你知道我就是按著你的名呼召了你的耶和華，以色列的神。

耶和華對耶戶說：“因為你辦好了我看為正的事，照我的一切心意對付亞哈家，你的子孫要坐在以色列的王位上，直到第四代。”
