「我耶和華膏立塞魯士為王，我牽著他的右手幫助他征服列國、降服列王；我使城門洞開，讓他通行無阻。我對他說，『我要走在你前面，為你鏟平高山，打破銅門，砍斷鐵閂。我要把隱藏的寶物和秘密收藏的財富賜給你，好叫你知道點名呼召你的是我——以色列的上帝耶和華。

耶和華對耶戶說：「你已經做了我視為正的事，照我的意思除掉了亞哈一家，因此你的子孫必做以色列王，直到第四代。」
