The foot of neither man nor beast will pass through it; no one will live there for forty years.

No people or animals will travel through Egypt. No one will even live there for 40 years.

他要来攻击埃及地：定为死亡的，必致死亡；定为掳掠的，必遭掳掠；定为刀杀的，必被刀杀。我要用火点燃埃及众神明的庙宇，巴比伦王要焚烧庙宇，掳去神像；他要围住埃及地，好像牧人披上外衣，从那里安然而去。

我必使这地荒废荒凉，它骄傲的权势也必止息；以色列的山都必荒废，无人经过。

到那时，推罗必被忘记七十年，就是一位君王的年数。七十年后，推罗的景况必如妓女之歌：

这全地必然荒凉，令人惊骇。这些国家要服事巴比伦王七十年。七十年满了以后，我必惩罚巴比伦王和那国，并迦勒底人之地，因他们的罪孽使那地永远荒凉。这是耶和华说的。

外国人，就是列国中凶暴的人，已把它砍断抛弃。它的枝条掉落山间和一切谷中，枝子折断，落在地上一切河道。地上的万民都离开它的遮荫，抛弃了它。

七十年后，耶和华必巡视推罗，使它再度获利，与地面上的世界各国贸易。

这就应验耶和华藉耶利米的口所说的话：地得享安息；在荒凉的日子，地就守安息，直到满了七十年。

你们必住在我所赐给你们祖先之地；你们要作我的子民，我要作你们的神。

“耶和华如此说：为巴比伦所定的七十年满了以后，我要眷顾你们，向你们实现我的恩言，使你们归回此地。

就是他在位第一年，我—但以理从书上得知，耶和华的话临到耶利米先知，论耶路撒冷荒凉期满的年数为七十年。

“主耶和华如此说：我要藉巴比伦王尼布甲尼撒的手除灭埃及的军队。他和随从他的人，就是列国中凶暴的人，要前来毁灭这地，拔刀攻击埃及，使遍地布满被杀的人。我要使江河干涸，将这地卖在恶人手中；我要藉外国人的手，使这地和其中所充满的变为荒芜；这是我—耶和华说的。“主耶和华如此说：我要毁灭偶像，从挪弗除掉神像；不再有君王出自埃及地，我要使埃及地的人惧怕。
