我使你遭受可怕的灾难，你便不复存在，就是有人寻找你，也永远找不到，这是主耶和华说的。’”

读完后，你要把卷轴绑在一块石头上，扔进幼发拉底河，然后说，‘耶和华降的灾祸必使巴比伦像这卷轴一样沉没、永不复兴，巴比伦人必灭亡。’”耶利米的话到此为止。

祂挫败首领的傲气，世上的君王都敬畏祂。

“靠贩卖这些货物给她而致富的商人对她所受的灾祸充满恐惧，就站在远处为她哀伤哭号，说，‘身穿紫色和朱红色的细麻布衣服，以黄金、宝石、珍珠为装饰的大城啊，真悲惨！真悲惨！因为顷刻间你这一切的繁华都化为乌有了。’所有船主、乘客、水手及靠海为生的人都远远地站着，看见烧她的烟，就说，‘有哪一座城能与她相比呢？’他们又把尘土撒在头上，哀伤哭泣，喊着说，“‘这大城啊，真悲惨！真悲惨！所有经营航运的都因她的奢华而发了财，可是顷刻间她却沦为废墟了！’

这时，有一位大力天使举起一块像大磨石的石头扔进海里，说：“巴比伦大城也必这样被用力扔下去，消失得无影无踪。

我要使你成为光秃秃的磐石，做晒网的地方，你必不得重建，因为我耶和华已经宣告。这是主耶和华说的。’

看见你的都瞪大眼睛盯着你，都在想，‘这就是那曾使大地震动、列国颤抖的人吗？这就是那曾使天下荒凉、城邑倾覆、不肯释放俘虏回家的人吗？’万国的君王都躺在自己华丽的陵墓中，只有你像一根毫无用处的树枝，被抛弃在自己的坟墓外。你就像一具遭人践踏的尸体，与丧身刀下的人一同被扔进乱石坑里。

“那些曾与她通奸享乐的君王目睹焚烧她的烟，必为她哭泣哀号。他们对她所受的灾祸充满恐惧，就远远地站着说，“‘强大坚固的巴比伦城啊，真悲惨！真悲惨！因为审判顷刻间临到你了。’

沿海的居民因你而惊骇，君王都吓得面容失色。各国商人都嗤笑你，你那可怕的末日来临了，你将永远不复存在。’”
