耶羅波安心裏說：『現在恐怕這國仍回歸大衛家。這人民若上耶路撒冷去，在永恆主殿裏獻祭，那麼這人民的心、就會轉去歸向他們的主上猶大王羅波安，而把我殺死，去歸向猶大王羅波安了。』耶羅波安王就打定了主意，造了兩隻金牛犢，對眾民說：『以色列人哪，你們上耶路撒冷去已經夠了；看哪，這就是你們的神、那領你們從埃及地上來的。』他就把牛犢一隻立在伯特利，一隻安在但。這事就是犯罪，因為眾民到伯特利一隻牛犢面前去敬拜，也到遠在但地的那一隻面前去。耶羅波安造了邱壇上的殿，將不屬利未子孫範圍內的平常人立為祭司。耶羅波安定了八月十五日為節期，像在猶大的節期一樣；他自己上去、在祭壇旁獻祭；在伯特利他也這樣作，向他所造的牛犢獻祭，又將他所立為邱壇的祭司安置在伯特利。八月十五日、他心裏自定的月日、他自己上去，在他所造於伯特利的祭壇旁獻祭；他為以色列人定了節期，自己上去、在祭壇旁燻祭。

以色列眾人聽見耶羅波安從埃及回來了，便打發人去請他到會眾面前，就立他作王管理以色列眾人：除了猶大族派以外、沒有跟從大衛家的。

他的棚幕在撒冷；他的居所在錫安。

願你的眼睜開着、晝夜看顧這殿，看顧你所說你的名要臨在的聖地；願你聽你僕人向這聖地所發的禱告。

你並且把你的兒女，你所給我生的，祭獻給它們、去被燒滅。你的淫亂哪裏是小事呢？

『你去向耶路撒冷人喊叫說：永恆主這麼說：你青年時堅貞之愛，你訂婚期間的愛情，你怎樣在曠野、在未曾耕種之地跟隨了我：我都記得。那時以色列歸永恆主為聖，作為出產中的初熟物；凡吞喫它的都有罪；災禍都必臨到他們：這是永恆主發神諭說的。』

王愛慕你的美麗；因為他是你的主上；你要崇拜他。推羅的人民必帶禮物來求恩；外族民中富足的人必求你的情面。王女佩帶珊瑚，極其榮華；她的服裝用金線繡的。她穿着刺繡衣服、被引到王面前；做陪伴、隨着她、的童女們、也都被引到你面前。他們都歡喜快樂地被引導，大家進入王的宮殿。你的子孫必接替你列祖；你必在全國內立他們為王子。

他們必帶一團隊人上來攻擊你，扔石頭把你砍死，用他們的刀劍將你割碎。

所以你們呢、我的弟兄們，你們因屬於基督的身體、對於律法也可被看為已死的、可以歸於別人的，就是歸於那從死人中得甦活起來的，好叫我們可以給上帝結果子。
