On the very day they sacrificed their children to their idols, they entered my sanctuary and desecrated it. That is what they did in my house.

They have sacrificed their children to their gods. On that same day they entered my temple and made it‘ unclean.’ That is what they have done in my house.

For when they had slaughtered their children in sacrifice to their idols, on the same day they came into my sanctuary to profane it. And behold, this is what they did in my house.

In that ye have brought[ into my sanctuary] strangers, uncircumcised in heart, and uncircumcised in flesh, to be in my sanctuary, to pollute it,[ even] my house, when ye offer my bread, the fat and the blood, and they have broken my covenant because of all your abominations.

For both prophet and priest are profane; yea, in my house have I found their wickedness, saith the LORD.

The shew of their countenance doth witness against them; and they declare their sin as Sodom, they hide[ it] not. Woe unto their soul! for they have rewarded evil unto themselves.

Behold, ye trust in lying words, that cannot profit.Will ye steal, murder, and commit adultery, and swear falsely, and burn incense unto Baal, and walk after other gods whom ye know not;And come and stand before me in this house, which is called by my name, and say, We are delivered to do all these abominations?Is this house, which is called by my name, become a den of robbers in your eyes? Behold, even I have seen[ it], saith the LORD.

What hath my beloved to do in mine house,[ seeing] she hath wrought lewdness with many, and the holy flesh is passed from thee? when thou doest evil, then thou rejoicest.

Moreover this they have done unto me: they have defiled my sanctuary in the same day, and have profaned my sabbaths.

The heads thereof judge for reward, and the priests thereof teach for hire, and the prophets thereof divine for money: yet will they lean upon the LORD, and say,[ Is] not the LORD among us? none evil can come upon us.

Also he built altars in the house of the LORD, whereof the LORD had said, In Jerusalem shall my name be for ever.And he built altars for all the host of heaven in the two courts of the house of the LORD.And he caused his children to pass through the fire in the valley of the son of Hinnom: also he observed times, and used enchantments, and used witchcraft, and dealt with a familiar spirit, and with wizards: he wrought much evil in the sight of the LORD, to provoke him to anger.And he set a carved image, the idol which he had made, in the house of God, of which God had said to David and to Solomon his son, In this house, and in Jerusalem, which I have chosen before all the tribes of Israel, will I put my name for ever:

Then led they Jesus from Caiaphas unto the hall of judgment: and it was early; and they themselves went not into the judgment hall, lest they should be defiled; but that they might eat the passover.
