“ Son of man, say to the land,‘ You are a land that has not been cleansed or rained on in the day of wrath.’

但以色列人没有归向万军之耶和华，也不寻求祂。

她不听命令，不受管教；不倚靠耶和华，不亲近她的上帝。

我责打你们的儿女，却是徒劳，因为他们不受管教。你们杀害你们的先知，残暴如狮子。

亚哈斯在患难时越发悖逆耶和华，

风箱猛力吹火，铅也会熔掉；但他们被炼了又炼，终是徒然，因为他们的邪恶仍未除去。

所有祭司长和民众也都仿效外族人的一切可憎行径，犯了大罪，玷污了耶和华在耶路撒冷使之圣洁的殿。他们祖先的上帝耶和华因为怜爱祂的子民和祂的居所，就不断派使者来劝告他们。他们却嘲弄耶和华上帝的使者，藐视祂的话，嘲笑祂的先知，以致祂的愤怒临到祂的子民身上，无可挽救。

耶和华啊，你要的不是诚实吗？你责打他们，他们不感到疼痛；你严惩他们，他们仍不受教。他们屡教不改，脸比石头还硬。

耶路撒冷啊，淫荡使你污秽不堪，我要洁净你，你却不愿被洁净。所以，除非我向你倾尽一切愤怒，否则你的污秽将不能清除。

你们为什么一再叛逆？你们还要受责打吗？你们已经头破血流，身心疲惫。

“我们不会听从你奉耶和华的名对我们说的话。但我们必照所许的愿向天后烧香奠酒，正如我们和我们的祖先、君王和官长在犹大各城和耶路撒冷街上所做的一样。那时，我们食物充足，生活幸福，无灾无祸。但自从我们停止向天后烧香奠酒后，我们便一无所有，不断有人死于战争和饥荒。”那些烧香的妇女说：“你以为我们的丈夫不知道我们向天后烧香奠酒、照着她的形象做祭饼吗？”
