人子歟、爾欲鞫之乎、鞫之、使知厥祖可惡之事、

人子、爾當責之、使知自昔以來、彼祖所作、我已痛疾。

人子、爾欲責之乎、爾若責之、則使之知其列祖所行可憎之事、

“ Will you judge them? Will you judge them, son of man? Then confront them with the detestable practices of their ancestors

“ And you, son of man, will you judge, will you judge the bloody city? Then inform her of all her abominations.

Moreover, the Lord said to me,“ Son of man, will you judge Oholah and Oholibah? Then declare to them their abominations.

So the Lord said to me,“ Do not pray for a good outcome on behalf of this people.When they fast, I am not going to listen to their cry; and when they offer burnt offering and grain offering, I am not going to accept them. Rather, I am going to put an end to them by the sword, famine, and plague.”But I said,“ Oh, Lord God! Behold, the prophets are telling them,‘ You will not see a sword, nor will you have famine; on the contrary, I will give you lasting peace in this place.’ ”Then the Lord said to me,“ The prophets are prophesying falsehood in My name. I have neither sent them nor commanded them, nor spoken to them; they are prophesying to you a false vision, divination, futility, and the deception of their own minds.

“ You men who are stiff necked and uncircumcised in heart and ears are always resisting the Holy Spirit; you are doing just as your fathers did.Which one of the prophets did your fathers not persecute? They killed those who had previously announced the coming of the Righteous One, and you have now become betrayers and murderers of Him;

“ So as for you, do not pray for this people, nor lift up a cry or prayer for them; for I will not listen when they call to Me because of their disaster.

Nevertheless I must go on My journey today and tomorrow and the next day; for it cannot be that a prophet would perish outside Jerusalem.Jerusalem, Jerusalem, the city that kills the prophets and stones those who have been sent to her! How often I wanted to gather your children together, just as a hen gathers her young under her wings, and you were unwilling!Behold, your house is left to you desolate; and I say to you, you will not see Me until you say,‘ Blessed is the One who comes in the name of the Lord!’ ”

“ Son of man, make known to Jerusalem her abominations,and say,‘ This is what the Lord God says to Jerusalem:“ Your origin and your birth are from the land of the Canaanite; your father was an Amorite and your mother a Hittite.

even though these three men, Noah, Daniel, and Job were in its midst, by their own righteousness they could only save themselves,” declares the Lord God.

even though Noah, Daniel, and Job were in its midst, as I live,” declares the Lord God,“ they could not save either their son or their daughter. They would save only themselves by their righteousness.”

“ As for you, do not pray for this people, and do not lift up a cry or prayer for them, and do not plead with Me; for I am not listening to you.

Woe to you! For you build the tombs of the prophets, and it was your fathers who killed them.So you are witnesses and you approve of the deeds of your fathers; because it was they who killed them, and you build their tombs.For this reason also, the wisdom of God said,‘ I will send them prophets and apostles, and some of them they will kill, and some they will persecute,so that the blood of all the prophets, shed since the foundation of the world, may be charged against this generation,from the blood of Abel to the blood of Zechariah, who was killed between the altar and the house of God; yes, I tell you, it shall be charged against this generation.’

Then the Lord said to me,“ Even if Moses and Samuel were to stand before Me, My heart would not be with this people. Send them away from My presence and have them go!

“ And now, you inhabitants of Jerusalem and people of Judah, Judge between Me and My vineyard.

But they, righteous people, will judge them with the judgment of adulteresses and with the judgment of women who shed blood, because they are adulteresses and blood is on their hands.

Or do you not know that the saints will judge the world? If the world is judged by you, are you not competent to form the smallest law courts?

“ Woe to you, scribes and Pharisees, hypocrites! For you build the tombs for the prophets and decorate the monuments of the righteous,and you say,‘ If we had been living in the days of our fathers, we would not have been partners with them in shedding the blood of the prophets.’So you testify against yourselves, that you are sons of those who murdered the prophets.Fill up, then, the measure of the guilt of your fathers.You snakes, you offspring of vipers, how will you escape the sentence of hell?“ Therefore, behold, I am sending you prophets and wise men and scribes; some of them you will kill and crucify, and some of them you will flog in your synagogues, and persecute from city to city,so that upon you will fall the guilt of all the righteous blood shed on earth, from the blood of righteous Abel to the blood of Zechariah, the son of Berechiah, whom you murdered between the temple and the altar.Truly I say to you, all these things will come upon this generation.“ Jerusalem, Jerusalem, who kills the prophets and stones those who have been sent to her! How often I wanted to gather your children together, the way a hen gathers her chicks under her wings, and you were unwilling.
