How shall we escape, if we neglect so great salvation; which at the first began to be spoken by the Lord, and was confirmed unto us by them that heard[ him];

That thou shouldest enter into covenant with the LORD thy God, and into his oath, which the LORD thy God maketh with thee this day:That he may establish thee to day for a people unto himself, and[ that] he may be unto thee a God, as he hath said unto thee, and as he hath sworn unto thy fathers, to Abraham, to Isaac, and to Jacob.Neither with you only do I make this covenant and this oath;But with[ him] that standeth here with us this day before the LORD our God, and also with[ him] that[ is] not here with us this day:

Woe to the rebellious children, saith the LORD, that take counsel, but not of me; and that cover with a covering, but not of my spirit, that they may add sin to sin:That walk to go down into Egypt, and have not asked at my mouth; to strengthen themselves in the strength of Pharaoh, and to trust in the shadow of Egypt!Therefore shall the strength of Pharaoh be your shame, and the trust in the shadow of Egypt[ your] confusion.For his princes were at Zoan, and his ambassadors came to Hanes.

But thou, O God, shalt bring them down into the pit of destruction: bloody and deceitful men shall not live out half their days; but I will trust in thee.

Woe to them that go down to Egypt for help; and stay on horses, and trust in chariots, because[ they are] many; and in horsemen, because they are very strong; but they look not unto the Holy One of Israel, neither seek the LORD!Yet he also[ is] wise, and will bring evil, and will not call back his words: but will arise against the house of the evildoers, and against the help of them that work iniquity.Now the Egyptians[ are] men, and not God; and their horses flesh, and not spirit. When the LORD shall stretch out his hand, both he that helpeth shall fall, and he that is holpen shall fall down, and they all shall fail together.

O earth, earth, earth, hear the word of the LORD.Thus saith the LORD, Write ye this man childless, a man[ that] shall not prosper in his days: for no man of his seed shall prosper, sitting upon the throne of David, and ruling any more in Judah.

[ Ye] serpents,[ ye] generation of vipers, how can ye escape the damnation of hell?

A false witness shall not be unpunished, and[ he that] speaketh lies shall not escape.

Lo, thou trustest in the staff of this broken reed, on Egypt; whereon if a man lean, it will go into his hand, and pierce it: so[ is] Pharaoh king of Egypt to all that trust in him.But if thou say to me, We trust in the LORD our God:[ is it] not he, whose high places and whose altars Hezekiah hath taken away, and said to Judah and to Jerusalem, Ye shall worship before this altar?Now therefore give pledges, I pray thee, to my master the king of Assyria, and I will give thee two thousand horses, if thou be able on thy part to set riders upon them.How then wilt thou turn away the face of one captain of the least of my master’s servants, and put thy trust on Egypt for chariots and for horsemen?
