‘ I am the Lord your God who brought you out of the land of Egypt, out of the house of slavery.

But the house of Israel rebelled against Me in the wilderness. They did not walk in My statutes and they rejected My ordinances, which, if a person follows them, then he will live by them; and they greatly profaned My Sabbaths. Then I resolved to pour out My wrath on them in the wilderness, to annihilate them.

And you are to remember that you were a slave in the land of Egypt, and the Lord your God redeemed you; therefore I am commanding this of you today.

Joshua said to all the people,“ This is what the Lord, the God of Israel says:‘ From ancient times your fathers lived beyond the Euphrates River, namely, Terah, the father of Abraham and the father of Nahor, and they served other gods.

There is no straw given to your servants, yet they keep saying to us,‘ Make bricks!’ And behold, your servants are being beaten; but it is the fault of your own people.”But he said,“ You are lazy, very lazy; for that reason you say,‘ Let us go and sacrifice to the Lord.’So go now and work; for you will be given no straw, but you must deliver the quota of bricks.”The foremen of the sons of Israel saw that they were in trouble, since they were told,“ You must not reduce your daily amount of bricks.”When they left Pharaoh’s presence, they met Moses and Aaron as they were waiting for them.And they said to them,“ May the Lord look upon you and judge you, because you have made us repulsive in Pharaoh’s sight and in the sight of his servants, to put a sword in their hand to kill us!”

And this will be a sign for you: you will find a baby wrapped in cloths and lying in a manger.”

And she gave birth to her firstborn son; and she wrapped Him in cloths, and laid Him in a manger, because there was no room for them in the inn.

But they rebelled against Me and were not willing to listen to Me; they did not throw away, each of them, the detestable things of their eyes, nor did they abandon the idols of Egypt.“ Then I resolved to pour out My wrath on them, to use up My anger against them in the midst of the land of Egypt.
