粵稽往古、自上帝造人於世、由天涯至地極、有如此之大事乎、曾聞之乎、曾有國民、聞上帝出自火中之言、如爾所聞、而猶生存者乎、上帝豈曾以試鍊、異蹟、奇事、爭戰、能手、奮臂、大而可畏之事、於他國中導出他民、如爾上帝耶和華為爾所行於埃及、爾所目擊者乎、以此顯示於爾、俾知耶和華乃上帝、其外無他、自天令爾聞其聲、以教誨爾、在地使爾見其大火、由火中聞其言、因愛爾祖、選其後裔、施厥大能、親導爾出埃及、為爾驅逐較爾強大之民、導爾入境、賜爾以為業、有如今日、

守之行之、是為爾之智慧通達、在列邦民前、彼聞此典章、必曰、此大國、乃智慧通達之民也、有何大國、得神近之、猶我上帝耶和華於我禱時之近我乎、有何大國、典章律例、如是公平、若我今日所宣於爾者乎、○

推羅王戶蘭覆書於所羅門曰、耶和華惠愛其民、故立爾為其王、又曰、造天地之耶和華、以色列之上帝、宜頌美焉、賜大衛王智慧之子、賦以穎悟聰明、為耶和華建室、為己建宮室、

天下列王、咸求見所羅門、以聽其智慧、即上帝賦於其心者、

示巴女王、聞所羅門由耶和華名、而得之聲譽、遂來、欲以難語試之、彼至耶路撒冷、從者甚眾、有駝負香品、及黃金甚多、亦有寶石、見所羅門、悉以中心所存者與之言、其所問者、所羅門俱答之、無有一事不明、而不告之、示巴女王、見所羅門之智慧、所建之宮室、筵席之餚饌、羣臣之坐次、眾僕之侍立、與其服飾、及其酒政、暨陞耶和華室之階、則神為之奪、謂王曰、我在我國、所聞爾之行為智慧、洵不誣也、我未至而目擊、則不信其言、今知所告我者、猶未及半、爾之智慧福祉、過於我之所聞、爾之羣臣、爾之眾僕、恆侍爾前、聞爾智慧、其有福矣、爾上帝耶和華悅爾、使居以色列國位、宜頌美焉、蓋耶和華恆愛以色列、故立爾為王、施行公義、於是示巴女王、以黃金一百二十他連得、香品甚多、及厥寶石、饋所羅門王、所饋王之香品、此後未有若是之多也、希蘭之羣舶、自俄斐運金者、亦運檀木、寶石甚多、王以檀木、為耶和華室及王宮作欄、又為謳歌者作琴與瑟、自昔迄今、未見若此之檀木、示巴女王所欲所求者、所羅門王悉予之、且循王之厚意、更有饋焉、遂與臣僕、返其故土、○
