This is what the Sovereign Lord says: Woe to the foolish prophets who follow their own spirit and have seen nothing!

The Lord and King says,“ How terrible it will be for you foolish prophets! You say what your own minds tell you to. Your visions do not come from me.

Thus says the Lord God, Woe to the foolish prophets who follow their own spirit, and have seen nothing!

This is what the Sovereign Lord says: What sorrow awaits the false prophets who are following their own imaginations and have seen nothing at all!’

For what has straw to do with grain?” declares the Lord.“ Is not my word like fire,” declares the Lord,“ and like a hammer that breaks a rock in pieces?“ Therefore,” declares the Lord,“ I am against the prophets who steal from one another words supposedly from me.Yes,” declares the Lord,“ I am against the prophets who wag their own tongues and yet declare,‘ The Lord declares.’Indeed, I am against those who prophesy false dreams,” declares the Lord.“ They tell them and lead my people astray with their reckless lies, yet I did not send or appoint them. The visions of your prophets were false and worthless; they did not expose your sin to ward off your captivity. The prophecies they gave you were false and misleading. (niv)

The days of punishment are coming, the days of reckoning are at hand. Let Israel know this. Because your sins are so many and your hostility so great, the prophet is considered a fool, the inspired person a maniac. (niv)

“ Son of man, prophesy against the shepherds of Israel; prophesy and say to them:‘ This is what the Sovereign Lord says: Woe to you shepherds of Israel who only take care of yourselves! Should not shepherds take care of the flock? (niv)

You should have practiced the latter without leaving the former undone.“ Woe to you Pharisees, because you love the most important seats in the synagogues and respectful greetings in the marketplaces.“ Woe to you, because you are like unmarked graves, which people walk over without knowing it.”One of the experts in the law answered him,“ Teacher, when you say these things, you insult us also.”Jesus replied,“ And you experts in the law, woe to you, because you load people down with burdens they can hardly carry, and you yourselves will not lift one finger to help them.“ Woe to you, because you build tombs for the prophets, and it was your ancestors who killed them. But they will not get very far because, as in the case of those men, their folly will be clear to everyone. (niv)

“ Woe to you experts in the law, because you have taken away the key to knowledge. You yourselves have not entered, and you have hindered those who were entering.” (niv)

they are conceited and understand nothing. They have an unhealthy interest in controversies and quarrels about words that result in envy, strife, malicious talk, evil suspicions (niv)

and say,‘ This is what the Sovereign Lord says: Woe to the women who sew magic charms on all their wrists and make veils of various lengths for their heads in order to ensnare people. Will you ensnare the lives of my people but preserve your own? (niv)

The tongue of the wise adorns knowledge, but the mouth of the fool gushes folly. (niv)

For when I preach the gospel, I cannot boast, since I am compelled to preach. Woe to me if I do not preach the gospel! (niv)

Their visions are false and their divinations a lie. Even though the Lord has not sent them, they say,“ The Lord declares,” and expect him to fulfill their words.Have you not seen false visions and uttered lying divinations when you say,“ The Lord declares,” though I have not spoken? (niv)

The discerning heart seeks knowledge, but the mouth of a fool feeds on folly. (niv)

You foolish people! Did not the one who made the outside make the inside also? (niv)
