He took what they handed him and made it into an idol cast in the shape of a calf, fashioning it with a tool. Then they said,“ These are your gods, Israel, who brought you up out of Egypt.”

He took what they gave him and made it into a metal statue of a god. It looked like a calf. Aaron shaped it with a tool. Then the people said,“ Israel, here is your god who brought you up out of Egypt.”

And he received the gold from their hand and fashioned it with a graving tool and made a golden calf. And they said,“ These are your gods, O Israel, who brought you up out of the land of Egypt!”

Then Aaron took the gold, melted it down, and molded it into the shape of a calf. When the people saw it, they exclaimed,“ O Israel, these are the gods who brought you out of the land of Egypt!”

He took the gold from them, fashioned it with an engraving tool, and made it into an image of a calf. Then they said,“ Israel, these are your gods, who brought you up from the land of Egypt!”

他們雖造了一座牛犢鑄像，說：「這是你的上帝、曾領你從埃及上來的」，因而大大犯了褻慢你的罪，

當那些日子、他們真地造了牛犢了，又把祭物供上去給那偶像，並且因他們自己手中所製造的而歡躍。

我一看，見你們犯罪得罪了永恆主你們的上帝，很快地偏離了永恆主所吩咐你們走的道路。

他們很快地就偏離了我所吩咐他們走的道路，而為自己造了一隻鑄像的牛犢，去敬拜它，向它獻祭說：『以色列啊，這就是你們的神、那領你們從埃及地上來的！」』

製造雕像的盡都虛空；他們所喜愛的都沒有用處；他們的見證人毫無所見，毫無所知，以致自己失望。誰製造神像，鑄造無用的雕像呢？

耶羅波安王就打定了主意，造了兩隻金牛犢，對眾民說：『以色列人哪，你們上耶路撒冷去已經夠了；看哪，這就是你們的神、那領你們從埃及地上來的。』

『現在你們呢、你們心裏說要反抗大衛子孫手下所治的永恆主之國：你們有許多蜂擁軍兵；你們那裏又有耶羅波安為你們所造去當作神的金牛犢。

他們在何烈山造了牛犢，敬拜了鑄像。用喫草的牛的模形去代換上帝的榮耀。他們忘了上帝、他們的拯救者，就是曾在埃及行了大事，

耶羅波安卻為邱壇、為野山羊神、為自己所造的牛犢設立了祭司。

你們將誰來跟上帝相比呢？用甚麼形相來跟上帝並列呢？鑄像麼，是匠人鑄造，銀匠用金子錘包它，煉鑄銀模來。

那從錢袋中浪費金子，用天秤平銀子的人雇銀匠造神像，自己竟去叩拜，去拜敬！

撒瑪利亞的居民必因伯亞文的牛犢而恐懼戰兢；拜牛犢的人民必為牛犢而悲哀；其拜偶像的祭司必為牛犢而哀悼；他們必為它的光耀而「快樂！」因為那光耀已流亡去了。

只是尼八的兒子耶羅波安的罪、耶羅波安使以色列人所犯的、那拜伯特利和但的金牛犢、的罪、耶戶卻仍舊跟從，總不離開。

米迦就把那一千一百錠銀子還給他母親；他母親說：『我把這銀子分別為聖獻與永恆主，由我親手為我兒奉獻，去製造一座雕像、一座鑄像；現在，我再給你好啦。』米迦把那銀子還給他母親；他母親取了二百錠銀子，交給銀匠去製造一座雕像、一座鑄像；那像就在米迦家裏。

因為他們雖然認識上帝，卻不看他為上帝而榮耀他，也不感謝他，反倒在思想上成為虛妄，他們蒙昧的心就昏暗了。他們自稱為有智慧，反而成了愚拙，用那能敗壞的人類、飛鳥、走獸、昆蟲之像的樣式、去代換那不能朽壞的上帝之榮耀。

銀的神像金的神像、你們都不可作、來和我相配，千萬不可給自己作呀。

人民見摩西拖延着下山，就聚集去見亞倫，對他說：『起來，給我們造神像可以在我們前面引路的，因為那摩西、那領我們從埃及地上來的那個人、我們不知道他怎麼樣了。』

那麼我們既是上帝的族類，就不該以神性為彷彿金銀或石頭、人的手藝和心思所雕刻的。

如今呢、他們罪越犯越多了，他們為自己造了鑄像，按自己的技巧聰明用他們的銀子造偶像，都是匠人的作品；就說：『向這些偶像獻祭吧！』嘿，人跟牛犢親嘴！

他們立了王，但不是由我立的；他們立了首領，卻不是我承認的。他們用他們的銀子或金子、為自己造了偶像，好讓自己被剪除。撒瑪利亞啊，我屏棄了你的牛犢；我向撒瑪利亞人發怒。以色列人到幾時才能無辜免罰呢？

你要用鐫刻寶石者的手工刻印章、將以色列兒子的名字、刻這兩塊寶石，用工夫使它們嵌在金槽裏。

『我永恆主乃是你的上帝，曾把你從埃及地從為奴之家領出來的。

耶羅波安定了八月十五日為節期，像在猶大的節期一樣；他自己上去、在祭壇旁獻祭；在伯特利他也這樣作，向他所造的牛犢獻祭，又將他所立為邱壇的祭司安置在伯特利。
