He took what they handed him and made it into an idol cast in the shape of a calf, fashioning it with a tool. Then they said,“ These are your gods, Israel, who brought you up out of Egypt.”

And he received the gold from their hand and fashioned it with a graving tool and made a golden calf. And they said,“ These are your gods, O Israel, who brought you up out of the land of Egypt!”

Then Aaron took the gold, melted it down, and molded it into the shape of a calf. When the people saw it, they exclaimed,“ O Israel, these are the gods who brought you out of the land of Egypt!”

He took the gold from them, fashioned it with an engraving tool, and made it into an image of a calf. Then they said,“ Israel, these are your gods, who brought you up from the land of Egypt!”

製造偶像的真是無用，他們珍愛的偶像毫無價值。拜神像的人目盲眼瞎，愚昧無知，自找羞辱。製造神像、雕刻無益偶像的是誰？

他徵詢臣僚的意見後，就鑄造了兩個金牛犢，對民眾說：「以色列人啊，你們上耶路撒冷敬拜太麻煩了。這兩個金牛犢就是領你們出埃及的神明。」

「現在你們仗著人多勢眾，又有耶羅波安製造的金牛犢作為你們的神明，便企圖反抗大衛子孫所治理的耶和華的國度。

他們在何烈山鑄造牛犢，祭拜偶像，他們把榮耀的上帝變成了吃草之牛的鑄像。他們忘記了拯救他們的上帝，祂曾在埃及行奇事，

耶羅波安卻為邱壇、公山羊像和他造的牛犢像設立他自己的祭司。

你們拿誰與上帝相比呢？你們用什麼形像比作上帝呢？偶像是工匠製造的，銀匠替它包上金子、打造銀鏈。

有些人從囊中取金子，又用天平稱銀子，雇銀匠製造神像，然後向它俯伏叩拜。

撒瑪利亞的居民要因伯·亞文的牛犢偶像而恐懼顫抖；祭拜它的人要哀傷，供奉它的祭司要痛哭，因為它的榮耀將離開他們。

可是，他重蹈尼八的兒子耶羅波安的覆轍，拜伯特利和但兩地的金牛犢，使以色列人陷入罪中。

米迦把一千一百塊銀子還給母親。他母親說：「我要為你把這些銀子獻給耶和華，用來雕刻、鑄造神像。現在這銀子還是你的。」米迦把銀子還給母親後，他母親拿出二百塊銀子交給銀匠雕刻、鑄造神像，放在米迦的房子裡。

他們雖然明知有上帝，卻不把祂當作上帝，既不將榮耀歸給祂，也不感謝祂。他們的思想因此變得荒謬無用，無知的心也變得昏暗不明。他們自以為聰明，其實愚不可及，以必朽的人、飛禽、走獸和爬蟲的形像來取代永恆上帝的榮耀。

除了敬拜我之外，不可為自己製造金銀神像。

百姓見摩西遲遲沒有下山，就聚集到亞倫那裡，對他說：「領我們離開埃及的那個摩西不知怎樣了，你給我們造神像來帶領我們吧。」

我們既然是上帝的子孫，就不該認為上帝是人憑手藝和想象用金、銀、石頭所雕刻的樣子。

如今他們作惡日甚，憑藉自己的聰明用銀子鑄造神像，但這不過是匠人之作。人們議論他們說：「那些獻祭的人竟親吻牛犢偶像！」

他們擁立君王，未經我的同意；選立首領，沒有讓我知道。他們用金銀為自己製造神像，自取滅亡。我鄙棄撒瑪利亞人所拜的牛犢，我要向他們發怒，他們到什麼時候才能潔身自守呢？

要用工匠雕刻圖章的方法將他們的名字刻在兩塊寶石上，把寶石鑲在兩個金框裡面。

「我是你的上帝耶和華，曾把你領出埃及，使你不再受奴役。

耶羅波安規定每年八月十五日為節期，好像猶大的節期一樣。他自己在伯特利的祭壇上向金牛犢獻祭燒香，又派神廟的祭司在獻祭中司職。
