摩西和他的助手約書亞站起來；摩西上了神的山。

摩西對約書亞說：「你為我們選出人來，出去和亞瑪力爭戰。明天我要站在山頂上，手裏拿着神的杖。」

我要在戰爭吶喊的日子，在旋風狂吹時，在拉巴城內放火，吞滅它的宮殿；

萬民哪，你們都要鼓掌！用歡呼的聲音向神呼喊！

每逢角聲一響，牠說：『啊哈！』牠從遠處聞到戰爭的氣息，聽見軍官如雷的吼聲和吶喊。

到了第七次，祭司吹角的時候，約書亞對百姓說：「呼喊吧，因為耶和華已經把城交給你們了！

以色列人和猶大人就起來吶喊，追趕非利士人，直到該和以革倫的城門。被殺的非利士人倒在路上，從沙拉音直到迦特和以革倫。

參孫到了利希，非利士人對着他喊叫。耶和華的靈大大感動參孫，他手臂上的繩子就像着火的麻一樣，綁他的繩子從他手上脫落下來。

他們彼此唱和，讚美稱謝耶和華：「他本為善，他向以色列永施慈愛。」他們讚美耶和華的時候，眾百姓大聲呼喊，因為耶和華殿的根基已經立定。然而有許多祭司、利未人和族長，就是見過先前那殿的老年人，現在親眼看見這殿立了根基，就大聲哭號，也有許多人大聲歡呼，百姓不能分辨歡呼的聲音或哭號的聲音，因為百姓大聲呼喊，聲音連遠處都可聽到。

摩西說：「這不是打勝仗的聲音，也不是打敗仗的聲音，我聽見的是歌唱的聲音。」

耶和華的約櫃到了營中，全以色列就大聲歡呼，連地都震動。非利士人聽見歡呼的聲音，就說：「為何希伯來人在營裏這麼大聲歡呼呢？」他們知道耶和華的約櫃到了營中。

羊角聲拖長的時候，你們一聽見角聲，眾百姓要大聲呼喊，城牆就必倒塌，各人要往前直上。」

萬軍之耶和華指着自己起誓說：我必使人遍滿各處像蝗蟲一樣，他們必吶喊攻擊你。

約書亞吩咐百姓說：「你們不可呼喊，不可讓人聽見你們的聲音，連一句話也不可出你們的口，直到我對你們說『呼喊』的那日，你們才呼喊。」

大衛早晨起來，把羊交託一個看守的人，照耶西所吩咐的帶着食物去了。到了軍營，軍隊剛出到戰場，吶喊叫陣。

我要降火在摩押，吞滅加略的宮殿，摩押必在鬧鬨、吶喊、吹角聲中滅亡；

於是百姓呼喊，祭司吹角。百姓一聽見角聲就大聲呼喊，城牆隨着倒塌。百姓上去進城，各人往前直上，把城奪取。
