摩西對約書亞說：「你為我們選出人來，出去和亞瑪力人爭戰。明天我手裏要拿着神的杖，站在山頂上。」

我卻要在爭戰吶喊的日子，旋風狂暴的時候，點火在拉巴的城內，燒滅其中的宮殿。

萬民哪，你們都要拍掌！要用誇勝的聲音向神呼喊！

角每發聲，牠說呵哈；牠從遠處聞着戰氣，又聽見軍長大發雷聲和兵丁吶喊。

到了第七次，祭司吹角的時候，約書亞吩咐百姓說：「呼喊吧，因為耶和華已經把城交給你們了！

以色列人和猶大人便起身吶喊，追趕非利士人，直到迦特和以革倫的城門。被殺的非利士人倒在沙拉音的路上，直到迦特和以革倫。

參孫到了利希，非利士人都迎着喧嚷。耶和華的靈大大感動參孫，他臂上的繩就像火燒的麻一樣，他的綁繩都從他手上脫落下來。

他們彼此唱和，讚美稱謝耶和華說：他本為善，他向以色列人永發慈愛。他們讚美耶和華的時候，眾民大聲呼喊，因耶和華殿的根基已經立定。然而有許多祭司、利未人、族長，就是見過舊殿的老年人，現在親眼看見立這殿的根基，便大聲哭號，也有許多人大聲歡呼，甚至百姓不能分辨歡呼的聲音和哭號的聲音；因為眾人大聲呼喊，聲音聽到遠處。

摩西說：「這不是人打勝仗的聲音，也不是人打敗仗的聲音；我所聽見的乃是人歌唱的聲音。」

耶和華的約櫃到了營中，以色列眾人就大聲歡呼，地便震動。非利士人聽見歡呼的聲音，就說：「在希伯來人營裏大聲歡呼，是甚麼緣故呢？」隨後就知道耶和華的約櫃到了營中。

他們吹的角聲拖長，你們聽見角聲，眾百姓要大聲呼喊，城牆就必塌陷，各人都要往前直上。」

萬軍之耶和華指着自己起誓說：我必使敵人充滿你，像螞蚱一樣；他們必吶喊攻擊你。

約書亞吩咐百姓說：「你們不可呼喊，不可出聲，連一句話也不可出你們的口，等到我吩咐你們呼喊的日子，那時才可以呼喊。」

大衛早晨起來，將羊交託一個看守的人，照着他父親所吩咐的話，帶着食物去了。到了輜重營，軍兵剛出到戰場，吶喊要戰。

我卻要降火在摩押，燒滅加略的宮殿。摩押必在鬨嚷吶喊吹角之中死亡。

於是百姓呼喊，祭司也吹角。百姓聽見角聲，便大聲呼喊，城牆就塌陷，百姓便上去進城，各人往前直上，將城奪取；
