When Joshua heard the noise of the people shouting, he said to Moses,“ There is the sound of war in the camp.”

于是，摩西和他的侍从约书亚起来；摩西就上到神的山那里去了。

摩西对约书亚说：“你要为我们选出人来，出去和亚玛力人争战；明天我要站在山顶上，手里拿着神的杖。”

在战争之日的吶喊中，在风雨天的暴风中；我必在拉巴的城墙放火，烧毁他的堡垒。

万民哪！你们都要鼓掌，要向神欢声呼喊；

角声一响，它就说‘呵哈’，它从远处闻到战争的气味，又听见军长的雷声和战争的吶喊。

到了第七次，祭司吹角的时候，约书亚就对人民说：“你们呼喊吧，因为耶和华已经把这城赐给你们了。

以色列人和犹大人就起来，高声吶喊，追赶非利士人，直到迦特（按照《马索拉文本》，“迦特”作“山谷”；现参照《七十士译本》翻译）的入口和以革伦的城门。被刺死的非利士人都倒在沙拉音的路上，直到迦特和以革伦。

参孙来到利希，非利士人就吶喊着出来迎接他，耶和华的灵大大临到参孙身上，他臂上的绳子就像被火烧的麻一样，他的捆绑都从他的手上落下来。

他们赞美和称谢，向耶和华歌唱，说：“耶和华是至善的，他向以色列人所施的慈爱永远长存。”他们赞美耶和华的时候，众人都大声呼喊，因为耶和华殿的根基已经奠定。很多年老的祭司、利未人和族长，曾经见过先前的殿，眼见这殿的根基再次奠立，就放声大哭，但也有许多人高声欢呼，以致分不清到底是欢呼声或哭声。因为众人都大声呼喊，这声音在很远的地方也可以听见。

摩西回答：“这不是战胜的呼声，也不是战败的呼声；我听见的是歌唱的声音。”

耶和华的约柜来到营中的时候，以色列众人就大声欢呼，大地也回声响应。非利士人听见了欢呼的声音，就问：“在希伯来人的营中为什么有这样大声的欢呼呢？”后来才知道耶和华的约柜来到了营中。

当羊角吹起长号，你们听见角声的时候，全体人民要大声呼喊，那时城墙就必塌陷；你们各人要向前直冲。”

万军之耶和华指着自己起誓，说：“我必使敌人充满你，像蝗虫一样布满你的全地，他们必对你发出胜利的吶喊。”

约书亚吩咐人民说：“你们不可呼喊，不可让人听见你们的声音，连一句话也不可出口，等到我吩咐你们‘呼喊’的那天，你们才可以呼喊。”

大卫清早起来，把羊群托给一个看守的人，就照着耶西所吩咐他的，带着食物去了。他来到军营中的时候，军队正出去列阵，吶喊助阵。

我必降火在摩押，烧毁加略的堡垒；在扰攘、吶喊、吹角声中，摩押必被消灭。

于是人民呼喊，祭司也吹角。人民听见角声的时候，就大声呼喊，城墙就塌陷了；于是，人民冲入城中，人人向前，把城攻取。
