我要用瘟疫擊殺他們，使他們不得承受那地，叫你的後裔成為大國，比他們強勝。」

「你們離開這會眾，我好在轉眼之間把他們滅絕。」他們二人就俯伏於地。摩西對亞倫說：「拿你的香爐，把壇上的火盛在其中，又加上香，快快帶到會眾那裏，為他們贖罪；因為有忿怒從耶和華那裏出來，瘟疫已經發作了。」亞倫照着摩西所說的拿來，跑到會中，不料，瘟疫在百姓中已經發作了。他就加上香，為百姓贖罪。他站在活人死人中間，瘟疫就止住了。

我因耶和華向你們大發烈怒，要滅絕你們，就甚害怕；但那次耶和華又應允了我。

並要發烈怒，用刀殺你們，使你們的妻子為寡婦，兒女為孤兒。

所以你們要彼此認罪，互相代求，使你們可以得醫治。義人祈禱所發的力量是大有功效的。

摩西便懇求耶和華－他的神說：「耶和華啊，你為甚麼向你的百姓發烈怒呢？這百姓是你用大力和大能的手從埃及地領出來的。

求你照你的大慈愛赦免這百姓的罪孽，好像你從埃及到如今常赦免他們一樣。」耶和華說：「我照着你的話赦免了他們。

那人說：「天黎明了，容我去吧！」雅各說：「你不給我祝福，我就不容你去。」那人說：「你名叫甚麼？」他說：「我名叫雅各。」那人說：「你的名不要再叫雅各，要叫以色列；因為你與神與人較力，都得了勝。」

耶和華又對我說：「不要為這百姓祈禱求好處。

亞伯拉罕說：「求主不要動怒，我再說這一次，假若在那裏見有十個呢？」他說：「為這十個的緣故，我也不毀滅那城。」耶和華與亞伯拉罕說完了話就走了；亞伯拉罕也回到自己的地方去了。

摩西挨近營前就看見牛犢，又看見人跳舞，便發烈怒，把兩塊版扔在山下摔碎了，

摩西、亞倫就俯伏在地，說：「神，萬人之靈的神啊，一人犯罪，你就要向全會眾發怒嗎？」

耶和華對我說：「雖有摩西和撒母耳站在我面前代求，我的心也不顧惜這百姓。你將他們從我眼前趕出，叫他們去吧！
