所以你们要守安息日，以为圣日。凡干犯这日的，必要把他治死；凡在这日做工的，必从民中剪除。

“‘ Observe the Sabbath, because it is holy to you. Anyone who desecrates it is to be put to death; those who do any work on that day must be cut off from their people.

You shall keep the Sabbath, because it is holy for you. Everyone who profanes it shall be put to death. Whoever does any work on it, that soul shall be cut off from among his people.

谨守安息日不亵渎这日，保守自己的手不做任何恶事——这样行、这样坚守的人，是蒙福的！”不要让归附于耶和华的外邦人说：“耶和华必定会把我从他的子民中分离出去。”也不要让被阉割的人说：“看哪，我是一棵枯树！”因为耶和华如此说：“对于那些谨守我的安息日、选择我所喜悦的事、坚守我约的被阉割之人，我必在我的殿中墙内，赐给他们纪念柱和名号，比有儿女更好；我必赐给他们永不剪除的名号。至于那些归附于耶和华的外邦人，就是为了事奉他、爱他的名、作他仆人的——每一个谨守安息日不亵渎这日，又坚守我约的人，

“如果你在安息日克制自己的脚步，在我的圣日不行自己所喜悦的事；如果你称安息日为可喜乐的，称耶和华的圣日为可尊重的；如果你尊重这日，不行自己的路，不求自己所喜悦的事，不按自己的意思说话；那么，你就必以我耶和华为乐；我要使你乘驾于大地的高处，并要用你先祖雅各的继业养活你。”这是耶和华亲口说的。
