Meanwhile, Moses was shepherding the flock of his father-in-law Jethro, the priest of Midian. He led the flock to the far side of the wilderness and came to Horeb, the mountain of God.

摩西為外舅米甸祭司葉忒羅牧羊、驅羊於曠野外、至天主山、即何烈山、

Now Moses was tending the flock of Jethro his father-in-law, the priest of Midian, and he led the flock to the far side of the wilderness and came to Horeb, the mountain of God.

Moses was taking care of the flock of his father- in- law Jethro. Jethro was the priest of Midian. Moses led the flock to the western side of the desert. He came to Horeb. It was the mountain of God.

Now Moses was keeping the flock of his father-in-law, Jethro, the priest of Midian, and he led his flock to the west side of the wilderness and came to Horeb, the mountain of God.

One day Moses was tending the flock of his father in law, Jethro, the priest of Midian. He led the flock far into the wilderness and came to Sinai, the mountain of God.

Now Moses was pasturing the flock of his father in law Jethro, the priest of Midian; and he led the flock to the west side of the wilderness and came to Horeb, the mountain of God.

Now Moses was tending the flock of Jethro his father-in-law, the priest of Midian. And he led the flock to the back of the desert, and came to Horeb, the mountain of God.

Now Moses was keeping the flock of Jethro his father- in- law, the priest of Midian: and he led the flock to the back of the wilderness, and came to the mountain of God, unto Horeb.

Now Moses kept the flock of Jethro his father in law, the priest of Midian: and he led the flock to the backside of the desert, and came to the mountain of God,[ even] to Horeb.

Now Moses was shepherding the flock of his father-in-law Jethro, the priest of Midian, and he led the flock to the far side of the desert and came to the mountain of God, to Horeb.

Now Moses was keeping the flock of Jethro, his father- in- law, the priest of Midian, and he led the flock to the back of the wilderness, and came to God’s mountain, to Horeb.

So he got up, ate, and drank. Then on the strength from that food, he walked forty days and forty nights to Horeb, the mountain of God.

Moses said to Hobab, descendant of Reuel the Midianite and Moses’s relative by marriage,“ We’re setting out for the place the LORD promised,‘ I will give it to you.’ Come with us, and we will treat you well, for the LORD has promised good things to Israel.”

I am going to stand there in front of you on the rock at Horeb; when you hit the rock, water will come out of it and the people will drink.” Moses did this in the sight of the elders of Israel.

Now Heber the Kenite had moved away from the Kenites, the sons of Hobab, Moses’s father-in-law, and pitched his tent beside the oak tree of Zaanannim, which was near Kedesh.

So Amos answered Amaziah,“ I was not a prophet or the son of a prophet; rather, I was a herdsman, and I took care of sycamore figs.But the LORD took me from following the flock and said to me,‘ Go, prophesy to my people Israel.’”

“ Do not come closer,” he said.“ Remove the sandals from your feet, for the place where you are standing is holy ground.”

At Horeb they made a calf and worshiped the cast metal image.

The day you stood before the LORD your God at Horeb, the LORD said to me,‘ Assemble the people before me, and I will let them hear my words, so that they may learn to fear me all the days they live on the earth and may instruct their children.’

He chose David his servant and took him from the sheep pens;he brought him from tending ewes to be shepherd over his people Jacob— over Israel, his inheritance.He shepherded them with a pure heart and guided them with his skillful hands.

So Moses arose with his assistant Joshua and went up the mountain of God.

Moses’s father-in-law, Jethro, the priest of Midian, heard about everything that God had done for Moses and for God’s people Israel when the LORD brought Israel out of Egypt.Now Jethro, Moses’s father-in-law, had taken in Zipporah, Moses’s wife, after he had sent her back,along with her two sons, one of whom was named Gershom( because Moses had said,“ I have been a resident alien in a foreign land”)and the other Eliezer( because he had said,“ The God of my father was my helper and rescued me from Pharaoh’s sword”).Moses’s father-in-law, Jethro, along with Moses’s wife and sons, came to him in the wilderness where he was camped at the mountain of God.He sent word to Moses,“ I, your father-in-law Jethro, am coming to you with your wife and her two sons.”

Moses went up the mountain to God, and the LORD called to him from the mountain:“ This is what you must say to the house of Jacob and explain to the Israelites:

The words of Amos, who was one of the sheep breeders from Tekoa— what he saw regarding Israel in the days of King Uzziah of Judah and Jeroboam son of Jehoash, king of Israel, two years before the earthquake.

and be prepared by the third day, for on the third day the LORD will come down on Mount Sinai in the sight of all the people.

Now the LORD had said to Aaron,“ Go and meet Moses in the wilderness.” So he went and met him at the mountain of God and kissed him.

When they returned to their father Reuel, he asked,“ Why have you come back so quickly today?”

“ Remember the instruction of Moses my servant, the statutes and ordinances I commanded him at Horeb for all Israel.

Now the priest of Midian had seven daughters. They came to draw water and filled the troughs to water their father’s flock.

“ The LORD our God spoke to us at Horeb:‘ You have stayed at this mountain long enough.

When Moses went up the mountain, the cloud covered it.The glory of the LORD settled on Mount Sinai, and the cloud covered it for six days. On the seventh day he called to Moses from the cloud.The appearance of the LORD’s glory to the Israelites was like a consuming fire on the mountaintop.

As he was walking along the Sea of Galilee, he saw two brothers, Simon( who is called Peter), and his brother Andrew. They were casting a net into the sea— for they were fishermen.“ Follow me,” he told them,“ and I will make you fish for people.”

Moses agreed to stay with the man, and he gave his daughter Zipporah to Moses in marriage.

In the same region, shepherds were staying out in the fields and keeping watch at night over their flock.
