Now Moses was tending the flock of Jethro his father-in-law, the priest of Midian, and he led the flock to the far side of the wilderness and came to Horeb, the mountain of God.

Moses was taking care of the flock of his father- in- law Jethro. Jethro was the priest of Midian. Moses led the flock to the western side of the desert. He came to Horeb. It was the mountain of God.

Now Moses was keeping the flock of his father-in-law, Jethro, the priest of Midian, and he led his flock to the west side of the wilderness and came to Horeb, the mountain of God.

One day Moses was tending the flock of his father in law, Jethro, the priest of Midian. He led the flock far into the wilderness and came to Sinai, the mountain of God.

Meanwhile, Moses was shepherding the flock of his father-in-law Jethro, the priest of Midian. He led the flock to the far side of the wilderness and came to Horeb, the mountain of God.

Now Moses was pasturing the flock of his father in law Jethro, the priest of Midian; and he led the flock to the west side of the wilderness and came to Horeb, the mountain of God.

Now Moses was tending the flock of Jethro his father-in-law, the priest of Midian. And he led the flock to the back of the desert, and came to Horeb, the mountain of God.

Now Moses was keeping the flock of Jethro his father- in- law, the priest of Midian: and he led the flock to the back of the wilderness, and came to the mountain of God, unto Horeb.

Meanwhile, Moses was shepherding the flock of his father-in-law Jethro, the priest of Midian. He led the flock to the far side of the wilderness and came to Horeb, the mountain of God.

Now Moses kept the flock of Jethro his father in law, the priest of Midian: and he led the flock to the backside of the desert, and came to the mountain of God,[ even] to Horeb.

Now Moses was shepherding the flock of his father-in-law Jethro, the priest of Midian, and he led the flock to the far side of the desert and came to the mountain of God, to Horeb.

以利亞起來吃喝，就有了力氣，走了四十晝夜，來到上帝的山——何烈山。

摩西對岳父流珥之子米甸人何巴說：「我們就要動身前往耶和華應許給我們的地方，祂曾說要把那地方賜給我們。請你跟我們一起去吧，我們必厚待你，耶和華已經應許要賜福給以色列人。」

我必在何烈的磐石那裡等候你們，你用杖擊打磐石，磐石必流出水來給眾人喝。」摩西便當著以色列長老的面這樣做了。

摩西的岳父何巴的後人基尼人希百離開自己的族人，在基低斯附近撒拿音的橡樹旁搭帳篷居住。

我答道：「我本不是先知，也不是先知的門徒。我只是一個牧人，也替人看護桑樹。但耶和華不再讓我看守羊群，祂對我說，『去！向我的以色列子民說預言。』

上帝說：「別再靠近，脫下你腳上的鞋子，因為你所站的地方是聖地。」

他們在何烈山鑄造牛犢，祭拜偶像，

那天，你們在何烈山站在你們的上帝耶和華面前，耶和華對我說，『把民眾招聚起來，讓他們聽我的教誨，學習一生敬畏我，並傳授給自己的兒女。』

祂揀選了祂的僕人大衛，把他從羊圈中召來，讓他離開牧羊的生活，去牧養祂的子民雅各的後裔，牧養祂的產業以色列。於是，大衛以正直的心牧養他們，用靈巧的手帶領他們。

於是，摩西帶著他的助手約書亞動身上了上帝的山。

摩西的岳父——米甸的祭司葉忒羅，聽說上帝為摩西和祂的子民以色列人所做的一切事——如何帶領他們離開埃及，就帶著女兒西坡拉和兩個外孫去見摩西。西坡拉是摩西的妻子，摩西曾讓她回娘家暫時居住。摩西的兩個兒子一個叫革舜，因為摩西說：「我成了在異鄉寄居的人」；一個叫以利以謝，因為摩西說：「我父親的上帝幫助我，從法老的刀下拯救了我。」摩西的岳父葉忒羅帶著摩西的妻子和兩個兒子來到上帝的山，就是摩西在曠野安營的地方。葉忒羅事先差人把他帶著摩西的妻子和兩個兒子要來的消息通知摩西。

摩西上山到上帝那裡，耶和華從山上呼喚他說：「你告訴雅各家，告訴以色列人，

猶大王烏西雅、約阿施的兒子以色列王耶羅波安執政期間，大地震前兩年，提哥亞的牧人阿摩司看到了關於以色列的異象。以下是阿摩司的話。

到後天都要預備好，因為這一天耶和華要在百姓眼前降臨在西奈山上。

耶和華對亞倫說：「你到曠野去迎接摩西。」他就在上帝的山上遇見摩西，並親吻他。

她們回到父親流珥那裡，父親問她們：「你們今天怎麼這麼快就回來了？」

「你們要記住我僕人摩西的律法，就是我在何烈山藉著他傳給以色列人的律例和典章。

米甸祭司的七個女兒來打水，要把水倒進槽裡飲她們父親的羊。

「我們的上帝耶和華在何烈山對我們說，『你們在這裡已經住了多日，

摩西上了山，密雲遮蓋著整座山。耶和華的榮耀停留在西奈山上，密雲遮蓋了山六天。第七天，耶和華在雲中召喚摩西。在以色列人眼中，耶和華的榮耀在山上好像烈火。

耶穌沿著加利利湖邊行走的時候，看見被稱為彼得的西門和安得烈兩兄弟正在撒網打魚，他們是漁夫。耶穌對他們說：「來跟從我！我要使你們成為得人的漁夫。」

後來，摩西同意住在那人家裡。那人把女兒西坡拉許配給他。

當晚，伯利恆郊外有一群牧羊人正在看守羊群。
