上帝照著麥基洗德的模式立祂做大祭司。

你要指派亞倫父子們盡祭司的職分，其他人若走近聖幕，必被處死。」

沒有人能自取這大祭司的尊榮，只有像亞倫一樣蒙上帝呼召的人才可以做大祭司。同樣，基督也沒有自取榮耀做大祭司，是上帝對祂說：「你是我的兒子，我今日成為你父親。」

你們的聖職禮為期七天，這七天之內，你們不可走出會幕門口。

摩西對利未人說：「今天你們已經把自己奉獻給耶和華了，因為你們大義滅親，祂必賜福給你們。」

猶太人在利未祭司制度的基礎上承受了律法，如果通過這個祭司制度可以達到純全，又何必照麥基洗德的模式而不是亞倫的模式，另外興起一位祭司呢？既然這祭司制度更改了，律法也必須更改。因為這裡所說的這位祭司屬於別的支派，那支派裡從來沒有在祭壇前供職的祭司。顯然，我們的主基督屬於猶大支派，摩西從來沒有說這個支派會出祭司。

使他和他的後代憑此約可以永遠做祭司，因為他為我除掉了不貞之人，為以色列人贖了罪。」

耶和華又降下烈火，燒死了那二百五十個獻香的人。

「你要從以色列百姓當中把你的哥哥亞倫和他四個兒子——拿答、亞比戶、以利亞撒和以他瑪帶到你身邊，立他們為祭司事奉我。

因為你們的上帝耶和華從各支派中揀選了利未人，讓他們世代奉祂的名事奉。

也要為亞倫的兒子們縫製內袍、腰帶、帽子，顯出他們職位的榮耀和尊貴。你哥哥亞倫及其眾子穿上這些衣服後，你要用油膏立他們，使他們分別出來，做聖潔的祭司事奉我。

讓以色列人引以為戒，使亞倫子孫以外的人不致到耶和華面前燒香，以免像可拉及其同夥一樣滅亡。這是按照耶和華藉摩西的吩咐做的。

以前做祭司的人數極多，但因為受死亡的限制，都不能長久擔任聖職。然而，基督永遠活著，祂的祭司職位也永不更改。所以祂能拯救那些靠著祂來到上帝面前的人，直到永遠，因為祂永遠活著，為他們祈求。我們所需要的，正是這樣一位聖潔無瑕、良善純全、遠離罪惡、超越諸天的大祭司。祂無需像其他大祭司每天先為自己的罪獻祭，然後為百姓的罪獻祭，因為祂只一次獻上自己的生命，便永遠完成了贖罪的工作。根據律法所立的大祭司都有弱點，但律法之後憑誓言所立的大祭司——上帝的兒子永遠純全。
