以和睦聯繫，竭力持守聖靈所賜的合一。身體只有一個，聖靈只有一位，就像你們蒙召只是藉著一個盼望。主只有一位，信仰只有一個，洗禮只有一種；神只有一位，就是萬有的父。他超越萬有，貫徹萬有，並且在萬有之中。我們各人蒙恩，是照著基督量給我們的恩賜。所以他說：“他升上高天的時候，擄了許多俘虜，把賞賜給了人。”（“他升上”這句話是甚麼意思呢？他不是也曾降到地上嗎？那降下的，就是那升到諸天之上的，為了要使他充滿萬有。）他所賜的，有作使徒的，有作先知的，有作傳福音的，也有作牧養和教導的，為的是要裝備聖徒，去承擔聖工，建立基督的身體；直到我們眾人對神的兒子都有一致的信仰和認識，可以長大成人，達到基督豐盛長成的身量；使我們不再作小孩子，中了人的詭計和騙人的手段，給異教之風搖撼，飄來飄去，卻要在愛中過誠實的生活，在各方面長進，達到基督的身量。他是教會的頭，全身靠著他，藉著每一個關節的支持，照著每部分的功用，配合聯繫起來，使身體漸漸長大，在愛中建立自己。
