亞希雅一把抓住自己身上的新衣裳，就撕成十二片；

在這上帝之殿的奉獻禮上，他們供獻了公牛一百隻、公綿羊二百隻、綿羊羔四百隻；又照以色列族派的數目供獻了公山羊十二隻、為以色列眾人做解罪祭。

使你們在我國裏、在我桌子上喫喝；你們也必坐在座位上，審判治理以色列十二個支派。

他們從約但河裏取來的那十二塊石頭、約書亞給立在吉甲。

『你們要從人民中取十二個人，各族派一人各族派一人。要吩咐他們說：「你們要從這裏、從約但河中間、祭司們的腳站着的地方、拿起十二塊石頭來，帶過去，放在你們今夜要住宿的地方。』

約書亞將這些話都寫在上帝的律法書上；又將一塊大石頭立在聖橡樹下永恆主的聖所旁邊。約書亞對眾民說：『看哪，這塊石頭可以對我們作證，因為它聽見了永恆主同我們所說的一切話；所以這塊石頭要對你們作證，免得你們否認你們的上帝。』

又知道了主所賜給我的恩，那些有名望的柱石、雅各、磯法、約翰、就伸出團契的右手來跟我和巴拿巴握手，叫我們到外國人中間去，而他們卻到受割禮的人那裏去。

你只要給我造土壇，在上面祭獻你的燔祭和平安祭、你的羊和牛；凡我使人記念我名的各地方，我都要到你那裏賜福與你。你若給我造石壇，不可用鑿成過的來建築，因為你在那上頭一動刀斧，就使壇變成凡俗了。你上我的壇、不可用臺階，免得在那上頭露現你的下體。」

以色列人就照約書亞所吩咐的這樣去行；他們照永恆主所告訴約書亞的、按以色列人族派的數目、從約但河中間、拿起十二塊石頭來，帶着過河，到住宿的地方，就放在那裏。約書亞把十二塊石頭立在約但河中間，在抬約櫃的祭司的腳站立的地方；直到今日、那些石頭還在那裏。

城的牆有十二個根基，有羔羊十二使徒的十二個名字在上頭。

這些寶石、按以色列兒子的名字、要有十二塊；按着他們的名字、刻印章，各按自己的名字代表十二族派。

『你要告訴以色列人從他們各族取手杖，每一個父系的家屬一根手杖，從他們的眾首領、按着父系的家屬、共取十二根手仗。你要將各人的名字寫在各人的手杖上；
