从来没有人见过上帝，只有父怀中的独一上帝把祂显明出来。

然后我会收回我的手，你就可以看见我的背，但看不到我的脸。”

上帝是独一不朽的，住在人不能接近的光中，从来没有人见过祂，也没有人能够看见祂。愿尊贵和永远的权柄都归给祂。阿们！

但你不能看我的脸，因为凡看见的，都不能存活。

闪耀着碧玉和红宝石般的光彩。有一道翡翠般的彩虹围绕着宝座。

耶稣在他们面前改变了形象，面貌如太阳一样发光，衣服洁白如光。

在他们头顶的穹苍之上仿佛有蓝宝石的宝座，有一位形状像人的高高坐在宝座上。我看到祂的腰部以上好像烧红发亮的金属，好像有火四面环绕。腰部以下如同火焰。祂周围有耀眼的光辉，仿佛雨天云中的彩虹。这是耶和华荣耀的形象。我一看见，便俯伏在地，随后听见有说话的声音。

城中充满上帝的荣光，璀璨如贵重的宝石，晶莹如碧玉。

从来没有人见过上帝，如果我们彼此相爱，上帝就住在我们里面，祂的爱就在我们里面得到成全。

乌西雅王驾崩那年，我看见主坐在高高的宝座上，衣袍下垂，覆盖了圣殿。在祂上方侍立着撒拉弗天使，他们各有三对翅膀：一对遮脸，一对遮脚，一对飞翔。他们彼此呼喊：“圣哉，圣哉，圣哉，万军之耶和华！祂的荣耀充满大地。”他们的声音震动圣殿的根基，圣殿里烟云弥漫。那时我说：“我有祸了！我要灭亡了！因为我口出不洁之言，又住在口出不洁之言的人群中，并且亲眼看见了大君王——万军之耶和华。”

耶稣说：“腓力，我和你们相处了这么久，你还不认识我吗？人看见了我，就看见了父，你怎么说‘让我们看看父’呢？

这并不是说有人见过父，唯独从上帝而来的那位见过父。

耶和华的天使后来没再向玛挪亚和他妻子显现，玛挪亚才知道他是耶和华的天使。玛挪亚对妻子说：“我们必死无疑，因为我们看见了上帝。”

又说：“我是你祖先的上帝，是亚伯拉罕的上帝，以撒的上帝，雅各的上帝。”摩西害怕看上帝，就把脸蒙起来。

“这位灿烂似晨光，皎洁如明月，耀眼如太阳，亮丽如布满天际之星辰的是谁呢？”

米该雅说：“你要听耶和华的话。我看见耶和华坐在宝座上，众天军侍立在祂左右。

祂右手拿着七颗星，口中吐出一把两刃的利剑，面貌如烈日放光。

城墙是用碧玉砌成的，城本身是用纯金造的，跟玻璃一样明净。城墙的基石用各种宝石装饰：第一块基石是碧玉，第二块是蓝宝石，第三块是绿玛瑙，第四块是绿宝石，第五块是红玛瑙，第六块是红宝石，第七块是橄榄石，第八块是水苍玉，第九块是黄宝石，第十块是翡翠，第十一块是紫玛瑙，第十二块是紫晶。十二个城门是用十二颗珍珠造的，每一个城门都是一颗珍珠，城中的街道是纯金的，好像透明的玻璃一样。我看见城中没有圣殿，因为全能的主上帝和羔羊就是圣城的殿。圣城里不需要太阳和月亮的光照耀，因为有上帝的荣光照耀，羔羊就是圣城的灯。
